Welcome to the Headquarters of New Technia.
Here, you can obtain information on anything within the borders of this land.

Following the brick path to its end, Yuki walked through the automated doors and headed up to the counter. The technology was beyond what he was used to, but the concept behind these places was not unfamiliar to him. After all, this place was essentially one gigantic information desk, and Yuki knew how to operate those.
"Good afternoon, could I please inquire about the location of the weapons shop and any similar places in New Technia? I'm new here, you see, and I'm in quite a hurry."
He tried to flash a winning smile to match, but the remembered that he was wearing full armour, so there was hardly any point. Well, he had sounded polite enough, so that was probably alright. Now all he had to do was to get his answers, and hope like hell nobody screwed anything up.

The girl at the counter flashed a warm smile at the newcomer. Even though she was barely seventeen, she had already learnt all there had to be learnt about service, and the most important thing that she had learnt was to smile.
"Please, give me a moment."
The girl pressed several buttons in quick succession, her fingers flying over the keys with the agility of someone who had trained in touch typing for dozens of years.
A small car suddenly zoomed in through a side door, along the metal rails on the ground that everyone had failed to notice at first.
"Please step in, the vehicle will bring you to your required destination."

"Ah, that was fast. Thank you."
Yuki slid into the car, and motioned for Sierra and Kamin to get in. Taxis were an important part of any city, and this one was no exception. The rails had not been expected though, since they had long been associated with larger carriers made to hold some twenty to thirty people at the very least.
A weapons shop, huh? Yuki thought as he closed the door and waited for the car to start moving. There was no doubt that such a place was where all the experts that would be of any help were, but something more primal urged Yuki to get to their first location. The same primal urges that made normally logical men stop and stare into shop windows whenever a new game was released. The urge that said "this makes explosions, it is awesome", and attracted him to weapons of any type.
On the plus side, with the technology in these parts, he knew he was going to get the best, and he was also going to need a lot more money to get anything at all.

"Ooh, how convenient!" Kamin slipped over to the car, and sat down as she waited for Sierra to get in. The plush leather seats were comfortable to say the least, and she wasn't one to waste it. She closed her eyes and went to sleep.

(( )) Sierra accompanied Yuki and Kamin into the large edifice, walking awkwardly, trying not to trip over air molecules. She would have been astonished at the sheer, cutting edge architecture and technology if her spiritual awareness had not suddenly deteriorated upon entering the building. She shook her head in an attempt to clear it of its sudden spiritual blindness, while Yuki asked for directions, and recovered herself in time to rush after them to enter the small rail car. "This is astonishing. I have never seen such mechanisms. They don't seem to be magically powered..." She mumbled, mostly to herself, while bouncing slightly on the leather seats. Sierra glanced over at Yuki and Kamin, who seemed as comfortable in this environment as they could be anywhere else. Of course, she didn't belong here at all. A fish out of water, figuratively and literally. This thought bothered her--she didn't want to be any more of a burden on them as she already had been. I'll just have to do my best... It was my choice to come here, so I must be responsible for my decision.[/b] The spirits of New Technia sent her emotions of support, and Sierra smiled contently out the window.

It's hard to be a stalker in present day; rather in this city.
Tsubasa almost whined to herself.
"If you'd please, I would also like a taxi to where they would be going to, which I suppose is a weapon shop."

Constantine quickly slipped into the rail car.
"Impressive. The ones back home don't have nice seats."
He remembered the hard, metal seats of the Magnetic Rail Transport back in Armoria. This vehicle was much better than those.
Folding his needles back carefully, he sat down on the seat. It was rather cozy, seeing as it was made of fine leather.
He looked out the window, admiring the technological wonders of the world around him. Armoria was at the same level of technology, but it was nowhere near as beautiful. Or clean. New Technia sparkled with cleanliness, while Armoria's streets were covered in the litter generated by an endless tide of humans, despite a government campaign to get people to pick up after themselves. The robot cleaners back home often jammed up with the amount of litter they collected. He didn't envy them.
He leaned back, relaxing into the seat and waiting for something to happen.

"FutureTech X-2 RRTS Unit 409820 at your service. Specified destination, New Technia Weapons Research and Development Institute Customer Service Section."
The door shut silently, the sound of air pistons faint in the back of the railcar.
"WaveForce Anti-Accident Restriction System activated. Please refrain from moving for a moment."
A faint blue plane of light emitted on both sides of the car, covering the two who were seated facing backwards and forwards. The beams slowly swept into their respective seats, then disappeared.
"We will now depart for your destination. Have a pleasant journey."
Instantly, the railcar accelerated, accomplishing the century sprint in less than two seconds all the way to a top speed of four hundred kilometres an hour, flying down the sliprails into the night to join a highway of rail lines, a sea of light in the distance.

"...Hi. I'm looking for something to do. Is there anything?"
Samara tried her best not to look creepy. Pretty hard for a long-haired girl in a blood-red kimono holding a rusty knife.

The lady at the counter looked up and smiled. Even though she was only seventeen, she had served a long time in the service sector, and one of the most important things to do was smile.
"For ectoplasmic entities, we do recommend the cemetery. It's a nice place to meet others such as yourself.
"We also have professional rent-a-body specialists, who can provide a more ethereal body that provides better societal cohesion.
"Alternatively, you can purchase a full synthetic kit (feels like the real thing!) from the Body Dealers Association, which can be customised in every regard.
"If you like, there's also the Exorcist & Co, which was set up to provide ectoplasmic entities the experience of exorcism without the actual result of being exorcised."
The lady smiled, and handed Samara a PDA.
"This PDA contains all the attractions that you can see in New Technia. If you wish, you can return this PDA to us at any mailbox along the streets that you find. You may keep it if you wish. It's been specially tailored for use by less-ethereal subjects, so you won't find any problems with it. We guarantee."
She smiled again.
"Enjoy your stay! Would you like me to call a RRTS for you?"

"...Sure. I don't think I need a new body, it would most likely get in the way. Besides, being ghostly does have its advantages. I'll pass on the exorcism too, I'm not a masochist."
She checked out the map on the PDA. One thing stood out, the New Technia Weapons Research and Development (CS).
"...Good. Weapons facility of some sort. Perhaps people passed by them."
She was eager to find anyone who could help her get stronger. Without having to go near that other guy.
"...Okay. I'd like to go to the New Technia Weapons Research and Development (CS)."

"Affirmative. Please hold." The lady at the counter smiled, as her fingers flashed at the keyboard.
In three seconds, a railcar sped in through the door, and stopped in the middle of the room. The cabin opened.
"FutureTech X-2 RRTS Unit 840439 at your service. Specified destination, New Technia Weapons Development and Research Institute Customer Service Section. "
The lady gestured to Samara.
"Please enter. The railcar will bring you to your destination.

It feels like I've been adrift for weeks now.Which way do I go?
That depends. Where would you like to go today?
...I don't really know.
Well then, it doesn't really matter which way you go.
Oh, you. I'll stay in the area. If they're going anywhere, I should be able to sense it. In the meantime, perhaps I should gather information about all these madmen.
Because you know, someone misinformed me about all that.
Hey, don't go blaming me for that. Some troll must have vandalised the articles, and the adjudicators haven't gotten around to fixing them.
Damned trolls.
He alighted gently just outside the building and walked through the automatic doors, dismissing his ethereal form as he did so. The motion sensors wouldn't have picked him up otherwise, though if he'd stayed ethereal the doors were irrelevant. It was rude to stay otherworldly when speaking to others, however.
Approaching the counter, he discreetly attracted the attention of the young girl behind the desk.
"Excuse me. Do you have information on the Empire of the Rising Sun and the 66th Knight?"

The young girl behind the desk furrowed her brows slightly, then after a few moments, smiled at Venser. Even though she was only seventeen, she had served a long time in the service sector, and one of the most important things to do was smile.
"I'm sorry. Your request yielded a very large number of results. Do you have any specific areas you might want to know about?"

Flying the Tengu in a circle around New Technia airspace, Yuki started to fiddle with the communications device on the plane, trying to beam down a request for a landing to the New Technia HQ before he got shot down for trespassing on their airspace. That would have been a terribly bad way to waste almost two million in cash, even if he could survive an SAM volley. Then there was Sierra sleeping in the seat behind him, and Yuki was not willing to chance another person's life today.
More importantly, this was protocol.
"That, or they could just help me get to the Nasul Royal Army without excessive sneaking, if that's at all possible, ever."

"New Technia Control to Crow-06-2033, your plane license has been verified. You have been cleared for VTOL landing at Pad 24. Establishing a data uplink to guide you to the landing area."
A green dot flashed up on the heads-up display.
"On landing, please report to our Vehicle Registry area to obtain a temporary parking permit."
((Parking charges are RT$40.))

"I can predict that this plane is going just keep costing more and more." Yuki said almost prophetically as he landed the Tengu, heading to the Vehicle Registry to cough up the parking charges.
"The only way around this is to keep earning more money. I should consider investment with the rest of this cash. Maybe a teahouse or something. Hayate seemed to be managing decently, apart from the hole in his roof."
Leaving Sierra to sleep in the Tengu as he grabbed his permit, Yuki headed for the counter, wondering in what order to deliver his messages/ask his questions.

"Actually, no. Everything you have on the subject is fine. It's alright if you can't personally give me all the information, but I would like to peruse whatever sources you have."
Venser smiled back.
"It's important, you see. Anything might be relevant."
Two of the people we met before just arrived. One's staying outside, another's heading in here. Odd. What do you think happened?
Perhaps the two of them decided to elope and came here to ask about potential honeymoon destinations.
...
What? It's happened before. I can't tell you everything everyone does, you know.
More's the pity.

"Affirmative." The girl at the counter smiled. She tapped several buttons on the keyboard, and the computer whirred slightly louder.
"Would you like that on a portable document handler or through a data uplink?"

"Right then, time to get cracking then."
Yuki walked up to the counter, pulling out the lists he had gotten from Marisa and Emperor Tatsu from his pockets. Yes, he did have pockets, even if he was wearing full armour. That did not make any sense, but that was also the truth, somehow.
"Could you give me all the information you have on any of the groups that appear on both lists? Also, the alphanumerics in this column here seem to bear some meaning. Is there any way you could translate them quickly?"
That was everything he needed here for now. Then there was Emperor Tatsu's message of peace, but that was hardly something to be given to a counter girl.

The counter girl took both lists, and scanned them briefly.
"I see. Would you like that information on a portable reader or through a direct data uplink? Also, this alphanumeric code seems to be a serial number of some sort. Do you remember anywhere you could have obtained a serial number on this company's products?"

While Venser had been thinking about which form of information transfer he'd find easier to manage, another person had come up to the counter.
Oh look, it's the groom. I wonder what he's here for?
You could easily find that out for yourself.
I meant it rhetorically. But that sounds good too.
He mentally swept through the other person's thoughts, garnering information on what had happened earlier and what he was going to do.
Interesting list he's got there. That's going to be one wild honeymoon.
What, is there ever any other kind?
Smiling inwardly, he committed the list to memory and waited for the receptionist to finish speaking to Yuki.

"A portable reader would be nice. While I'm here though, what would you consider the best way to relay a message from Emperor Tatsu to whoever counts as the rulers of this place?"
Speaking conversationally, Yuki proceeded to ran the letters and numbers on the list through his mind, trying to find a pattern and a place he could possibly have seen these numbers before. It might potentially be useful information to have, if it matched the Point Defence Nanobots that the thief had dropped. On the other hand, there was no way to ascertain that each of them had only bought one item, so there was the off chance that the whole point was moot anyway.

"A message from the Emperor? I can relay it for you through top-priority landline to President Fulman. Please pass your document to me."
The counter girl briefly flash-scanned all the documents now in her possession.
"I've contacted our ambassador branches in the other areas, and it seems that the alphanumerics on this sheet are indeed serial numbers. They assign serial numbers by customer, it seems, so different products, as long as purchased by the same, will have the same serial number."
She clipped the sheets together, and passed them back to Yuki along with a pocket device.
"The President has recieved your message. I regret to inform you that this message is now our property and cannot be returned. However, the President has requested for me to send you all intelligence we have in our possession on this subject. That comprises the four terabytes of data now on this PDA."
She pressed her ear slightly.
"President Fulman has extended an invitation to you to visit her in the office when you are available and have finished your current duties. Also, she has told me to inform you that you have our greatest support in the elimination of this world-ending threat, and have thus been granted full access to our military hardware for your use."
She pressed a few buttons, then swiftly turned and pulled a card from a machine behind her.
"This is your keycard. Other members in your team are also authorised to use it, if there are any."
She smiled.
"Thank you, and have a nice day."
[[All weapons and vehicles in New Technia are now available for your use, excluding space-faring vehicles.]]
