The main lobby was filled with many people, mostly new students, with older ones slowly joining the crowd from the stairs. The orientation's been proceeding the same way as the previous years.
Only that this time, Hitomi was actively participating in it, rather than watching from within a wall somewhere.
She looked around. Various people within the crowd were already engaged in their own conversations, not seeming to budge out of their own circle of friends. Birds of a feather flock together, after all.
Might as well take a seat for now...
She looked about for a good seating place, and spotted Lutecia there. Good, at least there's someone familiar around.
...But who's this?
A boy in a long black coat moved in to take a seat next to Lutecia. She remembered seeing him in the lounge before. Recalling that a lot of new people here had revealed themselves to be... unusual, in a certain way, the possibility that this one would not be a normal human intrigued her.
Let's see who... what... he is...
Hitomi quietly moved in and took a seat behind Lutecia, intent on listening in on the conversation.

Pamela walked to the main lobby, to find it extremely crowded. Students were heading down the stairs and mixing around with others. Before she could enter, however, she felt a nudge from behind her. Startled, she turned around to see Quimby floating in Mid-air.
"Oh, its you. Don't scare me like that..."
"Master Pamela, I'll bring these back. You shouldn't walk around with ingredients in the event you get into trouble." Quimby said.
"Alright, be careful you don't get seen too!" Pamela whispered.
"I won't." With that, Quimby teleports itself with the ingredients back into her room.
Pamela walked around for a while, and sees Shichi with a girl with pale turquoise hair. She doesn't seem to be the person Shichi was referring to, though. Perhaps she is a friend of his? Curious, Pamela decided to walk over and listen to their conversation. She takes a seat behind him, next to another girl with pink hair.

"No, actually. I don't rather mind, I do believe we've not been introduced yet. My name is Lucetia Scarlet. Thank you rather much for helping me up back in the lounge."
Came Lucetia's reply. It was a very simple and lady-like answer. Not childish. Not snobby or anything. Simple and clean. Shichi then settled himself down onto the chair beside Lucetia.
"That's a rather uncommon name you have. Anyway, you can just call me Shichi."
Shichi replied, and he did so in a very neutral manner as well. He didn't want to tread on anyone's "tails" at the start of the school year, especially someone like Lucetia, who is a vampire. However, he relaxed a little as well. At the very least, she smiled back.
"Oh and, you don't have to thank me at all. Its all in the name of courtesy."
Just then, Shichi felt something was wrong. He remembered that he was not supposed to be alone, so where did Pamela go?
Could she have... Fallen down the stairs...? Oh boy...
"And... By the way... Have you seen a girl with long black hair, reaching down to her back? And umm, she has green eyes. Emerald green. She's rather tall for a girl too. I fear that she may be in a little trouble..."
Shichi continued, some tinge of worriedness stained his voice. He doesn't want anyone to get hurt, especially if he knows that person. If he were involved in a fight, he would not bear to deal a heavy blow to his opponent. He just could not bear to see someone grimance in pain or suffering. Much less, an almost defenceless girl like Pamela would need slightly more protection in order for him to see less "pain" around.
He then placed the food stuff under his chair, and got ready to stand up to go looking for Pamela. Half-way as he was about to stand up, he turned back to face the stairway, to see - a pair of emerald eyes looking back at him.
"WOAH WOAH?? Pamela?!"
Shocked, Shichi lost his balance and toppled over the chair. He landed with his back flat on the ground and pushed himself into an upright sitting position with his hands.
"Ow... Ow... How... What... Hey wait... Where did the ingredients you're carrying go?"

Sou was awoken by the noise around the lobby.
"...It's morning already?" she thought, slowly opening her eyes.
The next instant she saw Yoon-Joo's face looming over her, darkened by the shadow from the brightly lighted ceiling of the lobby.
"Ah, that was faster than usual," Yoon-Joo commented with a smile. She held out her hand, and Sou grabbed it.
Slowly, recollections of what happened just now resurfaced within Sou's memory. Surprisingly though, she did not recoil anymore in the thought of a lion appearing in the room.
Yoon-Joo helped her to a seat near the staircase, quite a distance away from the person with the now-shrunk lion.
"What was that just now?" Sou asked.
"Some of the students in this school have special abilities," Yoon-Joo replied, "and a few of them carry around magical creatures."
"Don't worry, you'll get used to these sorts of things soon."
Sou gaped. "How can you say it as if it were commonplace!" she thought. She opened her mouth in protest, but Yoon-Joo softly placed her hand on Sou's head.
"If they were really dangerous, it would have been prohibited by now, won't it?"
Sou fell silent.
The two of them said nothing more, and Yoon-Joo started stroking Sou's hair.
Moments later, a rather loud voice rang from the stairway.
"Yooooooooooooon!"
Sou jumped up in surprise, while Yoon-Joo stopped touching Sou's hair and turned towards the staircase.
The girl in light brown twintails stormed down the staircase and pecked Yoon-Joo on the cheek. Next, she turned to Sou and launched an inquisition.
"What do you think you're doing, lowerclassman? Yoon's mine! As in, not yours!"

The purple-haired girl was awake. Kris let out a long yet quiet breath. She was relieved that the girl seemed to be taking the whole 'magic' story well. Then again, she had been helped along by this 'magic,' so perhaps it wasn't all bad.
This place is just a hoard of problems isn't it. She thought somewhat grumpily to herself. But it was no fun to be completely pessimistic. It's a challenge, then.
Before that, though, she took one look around and then sat back down. "I think it would be wise to settle down for now. There doesn't seem to be much time left."
It was all well for those who were sitting down and conversing, but there were quite a few people standing up, staring each other down, and in general, not where they were supposed to be. First impressions were important, whether she liked it or not.

He could already feel them, even though they were behind him.
The vampire and ghost have returned.
Giving Vareena one last, stern 'I'm watching you' look, Frederick stepped up to Venser.
You're really popular with the girls, huh?
"Good evening, ladies. I'm Frederick, may I know your names? Figured we could get to know each other before the official introductions begin, makes it easier that way."
He wasn't a lady-killer, that was for sure. But who in the right state of mind would approach the bunch of crazy seniors who'd just busted into the room, and especially the one with the gun?
"...Seems like we've got some rather interesting seniors, too."
---
Vareena didn't heed Frederick's disapproval.
I don't need your petty holy ways to survive, asshole. I'll make my own path.
Glancing around again, her eye caught something.
A ghost. It's behind that red-eyed girl, who also isn't exactly normal, either. Heh, let's see how strong that ghost is...
Subtly, Vareena changed the position of her fingers, and the gas emanating from the goat skull on her staff turned cyan.
She attempted to draw the ghost towards her staff, and if she was successful, it'd further empower her. Every soul she consumed would boost her strength.
This isn't bad, anyway. That ghost's probably haunting her or something, so I'm actually doing a good deed! Frederick can't possibly nag at me for that.
She wasn't quite bothered about the flurry of activity in other corners of the room, that was other people's business, and none of it really mattered.
Getsalt will be quite pleased... When I deliver all the salt in this institute into his hands.

Miyo was engaging in back-and-forth banter with Vedeloitte when she stopped.
"Attacking students is strictly prohibited, Vareena."
The word came out laced with disgust. Miyo had nothing against her at first, but this was something else altogether.
In that instant, Ariko had stopped fussing over Guile, and had turned her gun on Vareena. Her eyes were cold, her lips were thin. She was no longer your friendly neighbourhood law-abiding citizen; she was a cold-blooded killer.
Vedeloitte had a book out and was silently reading words out under her breath. The area around her was thick with the smell of burning paper; the smell of Replication magic.
The atmosphere had suddenly become very, very tense.
Miyo pointed her staff at Vareena. There was no doubt who was held in the highest authority in the year two population. Her eyes were narrowed, her upper lip curled in disgust.
"Cease your hellbound magic this instant, or we will make you."
The threat rang out across the hall.

Hitomi felt something draw her attention. As if compelled by an unusual force, she began looking around for the object that was calling her attention, eventually focusing on a goat skull on a staff, which was slowly spewing out cyan gas.
This is...?!
There were many strange occult devices that Hitomi had seen. Many looked threatening, but were actually functionless. This was not one of them. Despite the fact that she knew that the staff was dangerous, she couldn't help but want to touch it.
She frantically attempted to resist the hypnotic skull. It's dangerous, don't touch it. Don't touch it, don't touch it, don't touch it.
Her efforts were futile. Before she knew it, she was out of her seat and taking a few steps towards the skull.
Suddenly, a command echoed across the hall.
"Cease your hellbound magic this instant, or we will make you."

"Attacking students is strictly prohibited, Vareena."
Huh, a ghost is a student?
"Cease your hellbound magic this instant, or we will make you."
Vareena relaxed the position of her fingers, and the spell ceased, her staff resumed it's usual idle emanation of green gas.
"Alright, alright. I had no idea a ghost would be a student, anyway. I assumed it was haunting the lass it was lurking behind."
No need to bust out my full powers yet, anyway. When the time comes, they will regret the day they so gladly flaunted these powers. When the time comes, they will be nothing more than pawns for the Master.
Calmly walking over to an empty seat, she wondered aloud.
"When's that round of introductions starting, Fred? Didn't you say I was just in time?"
---
A big heap of trouble, as always!
Frederick turned around quickly upon hearing the threats leveled against Vareena, his massive bulk almost slamming into Venser in the process.
"Excuse me, Venser."
Vareena seemed to have the situation quite under control, though. Calmly walking away, she had taken a seat, and even poked a jibe at him.
"Well, they told us to be here at 8pm sharp, and the clock's just struck eight, I imagine she will be here soon, Ms Wunderwaffe, that is."
Frederick briefly considered summoning his armaments to him, they were infused with a special metal found only within the quarry of the Asgard fortress, and weapons made from such metal were bound to their smith, allowing greater abilities as their owner matured and had a stronger bond with the weapon, summoning them being one of them.
He brushed that thought aside, though.
With such powerful seniors, not to mention them being quite ruthless, too, I doubt anyone would want to cause more trouble, other than Vareena, that is. Surely she has something up her sleeve... I just gotta find out before she puts it in motion.

Constantine Ward
Constantine strode into the main lobby and took a seat. He noticed a commotion going on. A demonic-looking girl was holding some sort of staff, and drawing what Constantine recognised as an energy-being towards her. Several others were pointing weapons or reading from books, and they didn't look too friendly.
Whatever it was, if there was a fight he didn't want to get hit.
"Iron Curtain, reserve, full strength. Tune for countering possible psionic energy surge, set on auto-trigger for psionic energy spike."
(OOC: Constantine still uses the voice-command system as in the Roundtable. Iron Curtain is an imba defence skill that works like Gaara's Sand Shield.)
Silently, he calmed his mind down, willing the students not to do anything.
Alexa Bai
Alex scrambled into the main lobby, nearly tripping and falling.
"That's MY body you're hurting! Do NOT give me scars."
"Sorry, Alex. I had to get here on time..."
"Whatever."[/i]
Then, Alex slowly became aware of a really, really nasty feeling. Again, he had a headache, and it didn't seem to go away.
"Damn! Where's all this dark energy coming from... There!"
Alex's attention was shifted forcibly to Vareena. The evil-looking girl seemed to be radiating demonic energy from that staff of hers.
"Shut it down! You know the incantation. But don't use an absolute, this thing's too powerful.[/i]
"Okay... here goes..."
"Spas thamonamagyk, pithon!"
Hopefully, that would have the effect of lowering the energy output of the staff by as much as was safely possible.

"Alright, alright. I had no idea a ghost would be a student, anyway. I assumed it was haunting the lass it was lurking behind."
The gas from the skull turned green. Hitomi could feel her body back in her control. Without a word, she returned to her seat behind Lutecia and Shichi.
That's the second time... How many people here have something against ghosts?
A few murmurs from her surroundings pulled her back to reality, as she noticed several gazes surrounding her, some of concern, some of curiosity. She quickly regained her composure as the onlookers gradually resumed their conversations.

Without warning, a cold wave swept through the room. A massive, overpowering presence - not dissimilar to that of a general staring down a soldier - suddenly made itself known, as if it had materialised from nothing.
The Year Twos, most of whom had quietly entered the room just moments earlier, were now sat stiffly on the chairs near the front. The tension in the air was so thick one could cut it with a knife.
A girl quietly made her way onto the podium, tapped the microphone slightly, then gave a small smile.
"Good evening everyone. I'm Mitsuoka Seirenji, Student Manager from the Student Council. A warm welcome to the Year Ones, who have just entered, and a welcome back to my fellow Year Twos."
Her efforts at calming the tension in the room largely went unnoticed. The heavy presence steadily grew, its shadow looming over the entire room like a hawk watching its prey.
"Erm, Year Ones, as you can tell, Ms Wunderwaffe has arrived. Please take your seats and prepare for the welcoming ceremony."

OoC: Aah, sorry for my lateness, I was swept up in a storm of activity with other things and forgot all about this... Pardon any errors that I make in summarising thus far.
IC:
The young man appeared to want to answer, before suddenly looking over at the corner. Both girls' eyes followed. There, a girl with purple hair lay fainted on the ground. Both of them were suddenly struck with a vision of Nimue collapsed on the ground.
Like the storm after the calm, activity surged forth in powerful waves from the entrances to the hall. Two girls appeared and set up what appeared to be a barrier around the fallen girl, while another burst into the lobby, gun levelled at the lion, but was quickly cleared up as Kris stood up with her hand on the lion, clutching her chest and breathing shakily.
And right then a huge guy that Nimue recognised as the guy who knocked her down outside the lounge just now appeared, and shortly after another female burst in through the main door and revealed her open eye socket. Nimue nearly fainted on the spot if not for Jorryn noticing and shaking her to keep her conscious.
"Setting the dramatics aside, your question is an apt one," the young man had returned his attention to them, and Jorryn and Nimue fixed their attention on him. "It is indeed true that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, and I am not presumptuous enough to claim that I - or even the magical community at large - know everything that is to be known about magic. The best, and perhaps only answer that I can posit to your question is that as far as I am aware - and I am aware of a great deal - what I know to be magic, this very special presence in my life and so many others besides, is based upon very different principles than any technology that I have encountered."
Nimue blinked. She had lost the thread of conversation. Jorryn, however, didn't, and glomped Nimue again, saying, "There, magic exists!"
Catching on quickly, Nimue replied, "...I guess," noting the odd smile on the young man's face and his sigh. Meanwhile, Jorryn observed another boy enter the hall and make his way to the scary girl in the middle, but took no real notice of it. What could only be described as a ghost -- both Nimue and Jorryn stared wide-eyed at her -- made her way to the other two, and shortly after a girl appeared and stood behind the boy. After that he stood up, got shocked that the girl was behind him, and fell over a chair. Jorryn laughed, but Nimue was too busy being boggled by the ghost.
Another girl popped out with the group by the staircase and started interrogating everyone furiously while clinging to the girl that had fallen. It was then that Kris sat down again and Jorryn got a start, completely forgetting about her. "I think it would be wise to settle down for now. There doesn't seem to be much time left," Kris said. Nimue nodded slightly in agreement.
It was then, and only then, that both girls realised the lion was missing.
"Where's the lion?" Nimue blurted out, before regretting it thoroughly.
"Shrunk I guess." Jorryn surprisingly hit the nail on the head.
At that moment, the big guy came up to them, quipping, "Good evening, ladies. I'm Frederick, may I know your names? Figured we could get to know each other before the official introductions begin, makes it easier that way." He made a meaningful glance towards the group at the staircase, and proceeded, "...Seems like we've got some rather interesting seniors, too."
Nimue curled up on the seat, clutching the stuffed lion to herself, feeling rather apprehensive of him, while Jorryn happily introduced herself. "I'm Jack. Nice to meet you."
There was an awkward pause, before Jorryn introduced Nimue. "And this is my friend, Nimue. She's shy." Jorryn ruffled Nimue's hair for effect. Nimue allowed herself to sulk for a second, then let it go.
Right then, there was another commotion, as the evil and scary-looking girl that had burst in the front door was attempting to cast some sort of dark spell that was drawing the ghost to her pitiably, as she struggled against its hypnotic influence. Then a voice rang out through the hall that made the blood in Nimue's veins turn to ice.
"Cease your hellbound magic this instant, or we will make you."
The girl immediately cancelled her spell, said aloud, "Alright, alright. I had no idea a ghost would be a student, anyway. I assumed it was haunting the lass it was lurking behind," then nonchalantly strode to the middle of the hall, sat down and mused aloud. "When's that round of introductions starting, Fred? Didn't you say I was just in time?"
The huge boy named Frederick spun around as that was happening, nearly bumping into the other young man they were addressing and saying, "Excuse me, Venser," before striding towards the offending female. Jorryn watched Frederick go, puzzled, while Nimue pondered the revelation of the young man's name.
Venser, huh...?
Jorryn watched the ghost girl recover and head back to her original position before concluding confidently, "Looks like that ghost is fine now."
As if on cue, a cold wave swept through the room and both girls shiverred, with Nimue's teeth set to Chatter Mode, clicking loudly as she clutched the stuffed toy even tighter. They became aware of a extremely powerful presence nearby (Jorryn more acutely than Nimue) and a girl stepped onto the podium, tested the mic, then smiled and began.
Is it her? Nimue looked at the girl.
It's definitely not her. Jorryn directed her gaze away, searching. Nimue noticed Jorryn's eyes flickering, and focused on her surroundings.
Only Jorryn heard what she said. "Good evening everyone. I'm Mitsuoka Seirenji, Student Manager from the Student Council. A warm welcome to the Year Ones, who have just entered, and a welcome back to my fellow Year Twos. Erm, Year Ones, as you can tell, Ms Wunderwaffe has arrived. Please take your seats and prepare for the welcoming ceremony."
"...This presence is Miss Wunderwaffe, is it?" Jorryn mumbled to herself.

Ellen EnGrave
Oh no, I'm late!
Ellen noticed the cold, nasty feeling that spread over her as she ran for the lobby. She had been studying the layout of the area as she walked, thinking she'd make it in time, but apparently she hadn't.
Before anyone could notice she was nearly late, she bent the light around herself, turning invisible, and dashed into the hall. Coming out from behind a pillar, she hurried to her seat and sat down.
Portal
An orange hole opened in the ceiling, and Portal dropped through, landing on her butt in an empty seat with a thud. The floor underneath cracked, but at least the chair held.
"mii~ I'm here! And just in time!"
~grr~
"I'm hungry... again...", she said to nobody in particular. Opening a small portal, she took out a huge chocolate cookie and began to nibble on it while waiting.

"Ms Wunderwaffe, if you please." Seirenji quickly vacated the mic, retreating to the back of the stage.
The sound of soft footsteps could be heard throughout the silent hall. Eventually, the fabled Ms Wunderwaffe appeared off to the side of the stage.
Her smart business suit cut a crisp figure, its light grey shimmering slightly under the strong light as she made her way to the podium.
What was surprising was that she had the appearance of a twelve-year-old.
Taking the microphone, she made no effort to conceal her perception of her own authority over those sitting below her.
"Year Ones, welcome to Renai Academy."
She pointed at Portal.
"That girl over there, do not eat during the ceremony."
The softly uttered words floated slightly over the crowd, unthreatening yet completely menacing at the same time.
It was still indeterminate where her presence was coming from. It wasn't her speech; it wasn't her figure, definitely; it was completely unidentifiable.
"Year Twos, your introductions please. Mao, you first."

Portal
Portal pouted.
"~mii, sorry..."
She opened up another little orange portal, this one billowing white vapour, and tossed the cookie in. The cold blast of air that greeted her made her feel slightly better and more alert. A dimensional refrigerator was always good for that, and keeping half-eaten food fresh. There was some milk, cake and even a dainty little piece of leftover jelly in there, and she resolved to open the refrigerator later and finish whatever was inside.

Yoon-Joo kept her smile on her face all this while. She was no stranger to such situations, thanks to the one year of experience beforehand.
"Mao is always so eager to jump to conclusions," she thought, her hand touching the spot on her face where Mao's lips came into contact with just now.
Indeed, many a time when another student got too close to her, Mao would jump into an over-protective mode. Protecting from who or what is another matter.
Yoon-Joo turned towards the freshman, who was currently at a loss for words, and said with a sheepish tone, "I'm sorry, she's usually like that." Next, she turned and faced Mao.
"She collapsed on the floor just now; I was merely helping her up." Yoon-Joo placed a hand on Mao's head and similarly started stroking her hair.
"Remember, one must always help those in need...?"
The tone of Yoon-Joo's voice was calm and steady; nobody could continue to harbor frustrations in their heart after hearing her soothing voice.
Mao lowered her head, still visibly discontent.
"I'm Hono Mao," she said, slightly extending her hand, "How are you feeling now?"
"Greetings for the first time, I'm Kaizawa Sou." She took Mao's outstretched hand and shook. "I think I'm alright now, thank you for your concern."
The situation was slightly awkward, with Sou smiling cheerfully while Mao looked away the entire time.
"Oh, and I'm Choi Yoon-Joo," Yoon-Joo added hastily.
After the brief exchange, Mao found a seat on Yoon-Joo's lap.
Yoon-Joo did not mind of course; she had resigned to the fact of Mao constantly wanting to stick next to her long ago.
"This new batch of students are a bit rowdy, isn't it?" She stared at the commotion that was going on across the lobby.
"I-I'm sorry!" Sou reacted.
"It's alright, there's no need to apologize for them." Yoon-Joo said, putting her arms around Mao and hugging her like a plush. Mao seemed content, and did not fidget further.
"But still, I'm not that sure about this entire 'magic' thing..." Sou was starting to talk more again.
"It's like, how do you explain magic? Physicists have already made known the Laws of Conservation of Matter and Energy, which forbids such poofing of those things from nowhere," she said, pointing to the boy with the silver hair.
"He made an entire lion come out from nowhere, come on! And things like hypnosis and mind control, well I've seen some papers that could explain the psychological implications of--"
At this moment, she suddenly stopped. As if something suddenly interests her immensely, she started walking to the direction of the girl who had just entered from the front entrance a while ago.
"...?" Yoon-Joo looked at Sou puzzledly.
After a few steps, Sou stopped.
"...Why did I get up again?" she asked.
"The heck would I know," Mao retorted.
Sou, slightly dazed, made her way back to her seat.
Yoon-Joo looked in the direction of where Sou was heading to see Miyo reprimanding the long-fringed girl or something.
"Things I'll never know, and are okay with not knowing," Yoon-Joo thought to herself.
On her lap, Mao was making movements again.
"Yoon, that woman's here." she turned and said bluntly.
Yoon-Joo nodded and let go of Mao, who then took a seat next to her.
One of the council students went up on the stage, and tapped the microphone a bit.
"...Erm, Year Ones, as you can tell, Ms Wunderwaffe has arrived. Please take your seats and prepare for the welcoming ceremony."
The noise in the lobby dispersed quickly. The student left the stage, and Ms Wunderwafffe came up.
"...Year Twos, your introductions please. Mao, you first."
Yoon-Joo quietly nudged Mao, who was sitting on her right. Mao gave a look that would have said "I know, you don't have to poke me like that!" Then, she got up and went up the stage.
Yoon-Joo watched as Mao tapped the microphone and subsequently cringed a bit from the resonating sound that followed.
"Ahem," Mao cleared her throat. After briefly introducing herself, she took out a folded piece of paper and read from it.
"The seas of education are broad and wide, and one can certainly nourish herself both mentally and spiritually. In my past one year at this establishment, I have found myself brimming with excitement at each new day, for each day is a day full of opportunities, opportunities to learn and interact with people from different walks of life. I have certainly enjoyed my first year in this academy, and I'm sure that you first years would too. Thank you."
This was read out in one breath. After finishing to a mediocre clapping sound, she quickly exited the stage and ran back to Yoon-Joo's side.
"How was it?" She whispered under her breath, "Did I go too fast?"

Vareena's single eyeball tracked Mao as she finally detached herself from what Vareena was certain to be her lesbian partner, moved onto the stage, made a rather rushed speech then quickly retreated.
Apparently, the so-called Ms Wunderwaffe was nothing more than some bossy kid who happened to be gifted with a rather unique ability, a very imposing voice and an aura of jitters. Though her eye told her there was more than that, she couldn't be bothered to probe further.
Bah, boring stuff. Shouldn't there be a performance or something by the seniors to get the juniors pumped up or something? Speeches only put people to sleep.
She put an elbow on the table, propping her head up as she scanned the lobby for the next unfortunate senior to be called up by the tiny monster on stage.
---
It wasn't usually that Frederick felt the chills, but the arrival of the infamous Ms Wunderwaffe did send a tingle down his spine and back up again.
Huh, a tiny girl is the most revered Ms Wunderwaffe?
Glancing at Vareena again, he knew her contact with demons would have long made her immune to such fear, he just hoped she wouldn't be up to more of her dangerous antics again.

"Slightly fast, but it was still okay overall."
Mao beamed upon hearing the reaffirmation. Clutching the edges of her skirt, she smiled to herself, ears pink.
"Yoon-Joo, you're next." Ms Wunderwaffe went up to the microphone and called the next student.
"Yes.." she said, and got up from her seat. On the stage, she adjusted the height of the microphone, and spoke.
"Yes yes, hi everyone. I'm Yoon-Joo Choi, pleased to meet all of you."
Her introduction was met with a lukewarm response.
"It's a new school year. Remember to work hard in school, but if you need to take a break, why not go down to the town? There's this cafe called Moon Night Parfait, if I see you there I might be able to negotiate a discount for you..."
At this moment, a forced cough came from the backstage. Yoon-Joo paused, smiled uneasily and continued.
"In any case, if you really need any help, feel free to talk with any one of us seniors; we'd be glad to help."
She took a bow and jumped off the stage.
She knew making such blatant plugs were dangerous, but she did it anyway.

"Thank you, Yoon-joo." This time, it was Seirenji who took the mic. Ms Wunderwaffe had called Yoon-joo to meet her outside the lounge for 'various reasons'.
"Ah, Yuuji isn't here yet... Next up, can we have Miyo?"
The lithe lady went up the stage silently. Her presence, now that Ms Wunderwaffe had gone, was considerable.
"Good evening to you, Year Ones. My name is Tatsuyama Miyo."
No one spoke.
"I take care of the Kihanaraifu Shrine off to the west of the school. If any of you wish to come to offer prayer to our local deity, please feel free to do so."
A small wave of murmuring swept through the crowd, then dissipated. Miyo's glance swept over Sou's dimunitive figure.
"I am also the only senior well-versed in proper first aid. In the event of any emergency during school days, please contact me. I am usually in my room."
She went down the stage. A small round of applause went around the crowd. Seirenji went up to the mic again.
"Noel, it's your turn."
The small figure was already making its way onto the stage. pulling the mic down to his level, he cleared his throat and started to speak.
"Hello, people. I'm Noel Fitzgerald, hailing from Ireland." The Irish accent in his voice was already thinning. He was met with the same silence as before.
"Since the others are so boring, I'll try telling you something about myself. For one, my vision at night's real good. Yeah, so good I can see you in the side seat over there picking your nose."
Richard, his finger halfway up his nose, quickly brought it down into his lap. The others, meanwhile, were clamouring in their attempts to find him.
"Oh, and if you see anyone wandering around at night, that's just me. I sleep horribly. Like, if it so much as starts to rain, I'll be up and about again - and that's counting if I ever fell asleep in the first place. Not good for my height, insomnia."
Noel stood barely taller than Ms Wunderwaffe. Apparently, Ms Wunderwaffe had insomnia as well - and worse at that.
"Here's to a good year ahead with you guys." He raised an imaginary glass. "Cheers."
This time, the crowd replied in good nature, some of them even raising imaginary glasses of their own. Noel made a show of downing the glass, then headed down the stage.
"Alright. Lastly, Ariko - the rest of the Year Twos aren't here yet, so it's just you."
Ariko, startled, stumbled slightly, then leapt lightly onto the stage, bringing her large ornament with her.
"Good day to you all~!"
Silence.
"I'm Shizuka Ariko, Member number seven of the Student Council Task Force! Noel neglected to mention this before, but he's member six, my spotter and primary partner in missions."
She raised the gigantic rifle, and rested it on its stock against the ground. Standing at full height, the weapon was almost one head taller than her.
"This here is my trusty weapon, the XLSATBW-01 particle beam rifle. Trust me, you don't want to be on the recieving end of this one."
She pressed a small button on its side, and instantly, a pair of energy blades materialised around the sides of the weapon.
"It's got wonderful melee capabilities, too. So if any of you see anything dangerous, just give me a call. I'll dispatch it."
A heavy silence was now upon the lobby. Somewhat predictable, since a person had just jumped onto stage with a weapon of mass destruction and was now waxing lyrical about its efficiency in mashing lives into the ground.
"Well, good tidings in the year ahead, people. Stay safe."
She leapt off the stage, taking her place again.
"Alright then, we'll have the year ones now, by room number order... first up, Alex Bai, take the stage if you please?"

Alex Bai
Alex woke up at the mention of his name. He'd sort of dozed off after being hit by not one, but two magical assaults in the past few hours, and his body had returned to its normal form.
"Alright then, we'll have the year ones now, by room number order... first up, Alex Bai, take the stage if you please?"
Alex scrambled to his feet, totally unprepared, and walked up the stage calmly.
Unprepared? No problem.
"A very good evening to all the ladies and gentlemen here. I'm Alex Bai from Room 301. Nice to meet you all."
He coughed and cleared his throat. He'd been breathing with his mouth as he'd dozed off earlier.
"Now, I'm sure most of you saw that black-clad girl and are now wondering where she's gone or where I've come from. Well, I have to confess, I have a rather awful power. I transform into a girl."
He smiled in mock embarrassment.
"Well, that does come with some perks, though. Mainly being that I can use dark magic. I've noticed at least one other dark magician, a weird, dense presence and a ghost. Those of you with dark powers, please try to refrain from using them near me when I'm a girl. It kind of hurts to absorb all that energy."
"Kind of hurts" was an understatement, but it was about the best he could do without seeming weak.
"I guess that's it for me, then. I hope to get to know you all better!"
He grinned and walked off the stage.

Number order? Kris's ears perked. She was one of the first then. It seemed as though everyone was giving an introduction of sorts, as well as indicating their 'magic.' That was good. Unexpected, but good. It always helped to obtain more information.
Worried?
Not particularly.
Planning on telling them about your hidden weapon?
Not a chance.
She had every intention of keeping a low profile. It helped keep troublesome things away. Plus, she wasn't anyone special. Of course, she wasn't going to emphasize that either, in case malevolent souls decided to pick on the weakest students.
She studied each person who had introduced themselves, memorizing their faces and their abilities. Her eyes lingered a tad too long on Shizuka's strange weapon, so she had to shake herself lightly. Silly me.

"Well, guess it's my turn then."
Richard sauntered leisurely up the stairs, coming to an easy halt before the mic.
"Hey, all. Richard Flemingway, originally from Nasul City. I'm here on scholarship, actually. I helped design the second Propella Harmoniser - I'm sure you've read about it. That brought me here."
Richard waited for a response. Either they didn't know about it, or they were way too well-accomplished to be bothered with something like that. So there was silence.
"I'm a technologist - " Miyo coughed slightly - "and I really love what I do. If you ever drop by my room, you'll see it's full of blueprints and stuff. I love designing things. Currently, I'm working on this new quad-scramjet plane design that will completely revolutionise the aviation industry. Trust me, this one - organisations all the way from the NRAF to the NTRAF are clamouring for it. You guys'll be the first to see it."
He gave a slight smile. He loved mingling with people - it was obvious in his body language.
"Lovely. Let's get on with it, people. Richard Flemingway, out."
He leapt off the stage.

Sou was sweating slightly as the first same-year boy finished his introduction on stage.
Transforms into a girl? Just the thought of it sounded repulsive. Common sense aside, boys like him shouldn't have these kinds of abilities.
She did not remember seeing any girl in black just now amid her personal fracas. "Did I see her in the lounge just now...?"
"I hope he was just joking with his introduction," she thought to herself, her back pressing against the back of the seat.
All these people, telling everyone about their crazy powers and magic thingamajigs without any sense of abnormality. Just a moment ago a loud trigger-happy senior with an exaggerated weapon scared the wits out of everyone.
"..."
Sou wondered if Yoon-Joo's reasoning holds true at all.
Speaking of which, where did Yoon-Joo go?
She started scanning the entire lounge, her head turning and changing direction continuously.
