...Down from the sky,
Into the fight.
Hearts full of rage, full of thunder and glory!
Swords in the wind,
Crossing the sky!
Lords of doom bring an end to their story...
Songs he used to listen to and sing uproariously with comrades during his rare free hours in camp buzzed about in his head...
...Glory and fame!
Blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of Skarrge,
Of warrior's friend,
Sworn, to avenge our fallen brothers,
To the end!...
...The ground trembled as Kane rammed his right foot into the ground, partially collapsing the concrete...
...Here our soldiers stand,
From all around the world.
Waiting in a line,
To hear the battle cry.
All are gathered here,
Victory is near.
The sound will fill the hall,
Bringing power to us all...
...Standing up to his imposing height of four metres in his full combat armor, Kane shook his head, clearing it and looked around.
The screams of the dying were long gone, the fearsome warpaint on the Skarrge faces was nowhere to be seen, but the acrid taste of death and despair still lurked in his mouth. His armor was ten tonnes of Eternium, combined with complex hydraulics and an onboard computer system which helped him coordinate complex maneuvres and regulate the in-suit temperature. The power armor was his pride, it was his protector, and as was he, it's honored guardian.
Something fluttered behind him, swerving to look, there was nothing to be seen, until the familiar sound of it took hold of him. Reverently, he reached back, grasped the thick handle of the flagstaff, and unsheathed it, bringing it down before him. The Ultramarine colors were blue and gold, and as was their flag. Though rather tattered due to the all too recent fight, Kane looked at it with about as much respect and love as the Emperor himself.
Deep down, he knew he was now a heretic. That was the reason why he was in this strange world, why he was still not fighting the hateful Skarrge back on his home planet, and why he was not collecting the bodies of his brothers, or better yet, joining them in death's loving embrace. He had doubted the Emperor, and the Emperor knows all. Deep within him, something stirred, a renewed gush of strength invigorated him. He would explore this unfamiliar world, defeat any enemies within, and regain that lost honor, he would return to his world. Glorious!
Lost in that reverie, he yelled, "FOR THE EMPEROR!" Sprinting out of the port and into the streets, his battle standard waving high.
