The title says it all really, recommend the good anime (and possibly manga) for the win.

I read a lot of mediocre manga for the freakin' lulz, so my readlist and watchlist aren't exactly the most definitive list ever.

When you've been on the scene as long as Ski has, you don't need an introduction anymore.

Darn, Mathus stole my answer. But Soul Eater is awesome.
I watch a lot of weird/not-mainstream anime, but they are quite good.
- Moyashimon - Who doesn't like kawaii little microbes? - Baccano! - Great variety of characters, and very psychotic. Mmm. - Shigofumi - Letters from the dead. Very interesting concept. Also psychotic. - Darker than BLACK - Lots of death. And action. And more death. I like the main character. - Tales of Symphonia OVA - Might just be my fangirlness speaking, but this is the awesome. Graphics are top notch, since it's an OVA. I really love the magic circles and the feathers. >_>
I'm currently trying to get through RomeoxJuliet and Nijuu Mensou no Musume. The former is awesome, since Shakespeare is awesome--it's even better if you get the several allusions. The latter has Hirano Aya as the main char, so yay.
As far as manga go.. I have a lot of random ones, though...
- Black Cat - Please don't watch the anime--I personally think the manga is much better. Some characters are also not as annoying. - Penguin Revolution - I love the art, plot, and concept. The romance is funny and adorable. - Chrno Crusade - I also don't suggest watching the anime--they end differently. I loved the manga ending so... It's also the only manga that has made me laugh the hardest and cry the hardest.

This season's best isn't kannagi IMO; though I would rank it highly but got put off by the recent episodes. Stopped at 9.
Kannagi is already making the mistake of falling into the entrenched stigma of "stereotypical comedy that goes horribly wrong". ANd it makes me wince too much I'm scared of it.
Recommending Clannad afterstory here. It's to the point of being overrated by so many people, but it's still touching. The character arcs are probably the best, and they are running an almost parallel scene in there. Probably best of this season.
Ef I don't know about the latter tale, but the first season was good, just that the first 5 episodes can be excruciating to watch. But the build up of events were worth it for an extremely good episode 7 (slow paced mental breakdowns where you reach several moments of "at the brink" is horrifying. And the bitch characters in there so bitch you can feel cruelty.)
Also, Ef has the most unique style of telling. Two parallel pairings unwittingly entwined through two external people from a seemingly failed relationship. AND THE ABSTRACT ART.

A tale of melodies has Yuuko. Yuuko makes everything epic. Although the Kuze plotline feels like something pedobear would come up with, so on the whole Melodies isn't as good as Memories.

Basically watch all the things from Kyo Ani EXCEPT FMP and Munto.
Minami-ke!, Hayate no Gotoku for comedy
And watch all the classics like Haruhi, Death Note, Evangelion and you shouldn't go wrong.
Basically everyone has different genres so you won't really know what you enjoy, but as far as recent animes go:
CLANNAD Afterstory is good, Soul Eater is a fun watch, Kurogane no Linebarrels sucks, Ef is good, Kannagi is fun to watch, CHAOS ; HEAD is good, ToraDora! is okay but boring sometimes, Strike Witches is very fun to watch, Gundam 00 is good sometimes, Gundam 00 Second Season's OP is awesome but that's as far as it goes, PizzaHut is good, PizzaHut2 is not so good but works out, and of course there's more but if I were to list all of them...
Oh and Kanokon is just pure fanservice and shotacon, to say nothing of To Love Ru, Seikerei and that Guardians thing, which is the female parody of the Three Kingdoms.
Oh and yuri owns forever. Kannazuki no Miko!

Basically watch all the things from Kyo Ani EXCEPT FMP and Munto. Full Metal Panic! is awesome. Koihime Musou is what you're looking for with the Three Kingdoms thing, and I was rofling half the time I was watching it, so it's pretty decent if you don't try to take it seriously.

Female Romance of the Three Kingdom reminds me of this: myanimelist.net/manga.php?id=6736Dragon Sister! is a manga where all the heros are turned into women. I find it amusing that Liu Bei remained a sissy. I know some of the Three Kingdoms stories, so seeing all the characters as women was hilarious.

Speaking of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, there's a Gundam parody which debuted in AFA; who's actually looking forward to that one?

Sangokuden SD Gundam, or something like that. The manga's been around forever, but being SD Gundam, well, it's just there for the lulz and model kits.

And watch all the classics like Haruhi, Death Note, Evangelion and you shouldn't go wrong. Watch Haruhi in chronological order (unless you seriously have not been spoiled in anyway, then it is up to you), read Death Note manga instead unless you wants teh peoples to move, and watch the Eva movies too.

Oh yeah, to add on to what randname said. The eva movies (THIS INCLUDES ALL) are must-watchs for eva fans. Hardcore or non-hardcore, the same does.
Rebuild of eva 1.0 went godly well. And the songs for the movie itself are godly too.
For gundam, watch wing, seed and stop. Destiny is only to see that guy piloting destiny (shinji was it) get pwned in the end. But Stella's death was sad, so uh.
After following DM, I find myself very put-off G00 S2.
Stuck on the island repeat. Re-used scenarios. No thankyou.
