Ellen EnGrave
"Ms EnGrave, remember your mission. You're to study here like a normal student, ace the exams, and if there's any sign of hostile activity report back. Otherwise, do NOT attempt to communicate with HQ."
"Yes, Dad, I know."
As the black sedan that dropped her off vanished from sight, she adjusted her headscarf and walked over to the counter.
Her room was on the fourth floor, so she took the lift. Placing her bags in the closet, she removed a device from her bag and swept the room for electronic bugs. Satisfied there were none of that kind of bug (though there were ants that needed to be exterminated), she flopped down on the bed, exhausted from the journey.
Era was a long, long way off from here. In fact, it was a whole universe away. Trans-universal trips in a modified car were traumatising, to say the least, thanks to the sheer bumpiness of the ride.
She sighed. There wasn't going to be any action for her, after all. Just staying in this place, having an education she didn't need any more. Even if something popped up, she wouldn't bother HQ unless it was really a security risk. The less important HQ thought this place was, the sooner she'd be sent home to the battlefield.
At least that was what she told herself.
