Seeing as how there is no board in which to discuss the Roleplay, I guess the best place is to do it here. I'll try to decribe the problem I have as best as possible. This topic can be moved if a board is made.
So yesterday, I made a character, very satisfied with where the RP would go. I go to sleep. I wake up, and I suddenly see 40 new posts in the RP. How many of these 40 posts are mine? None, of course, because I wasn't on at the same time as the other users.
This problem, I have seen in nearly ALL of the other RPs I've been in (which is quite a lot). The more active members, the friends, all get together at the same time and post an entire block of action. Then, those who have appointments, different schedules, etc, are left behind in the dust, with nothing left to do but to catch up--as if they were erased from the plot.
I'm suggesting a limit to how much a user can post before stopping and letting the other people have a chance to post. Maybe before each main event. If the users spam posts, they might as well write a story on their own, instead of making it into a board. The whole point of an RP is to involve other people, rather than completely shafting them to the side.
I'm sure everyone will experience this frustration at some point in their RPing career if people don't realize that other characters do exist.
And now I have finished my main rant. Will people please take into consideration that other people want to help also?

In my experience, post limits tend to irrecoverably slow down the RP to the point that it dies off quite quickly. I would like the other members to take note of this though, posting more than 100 times a day makes the difficulty of trying to catch up with the plot pretty damn high.
If you really need to waste time RPing, WRITE LONGER!
>9000 characters per post would be nice, but hardly necessary.

I wasn't suggesting too much of an exact numerical posting limit, but more like slowing down before each main plot point in order to allow everyone who wants to be in on the action to regroup.

Aye, I can abide by that. Anyway, I made this thread an announcement, so everyone should be able to see it.
(I have no posts in the RP either, but that's largely because I'm too lazy to finish up my character's history.)

You should sticky it in the RP forum instead of making an announcement so it only concerns the RP.
However, there's no real easy way around this. Short posts make stuff interesting because you can change what you want to do and add new stuff easily, like in a real RPG where you constantly go to new quests or whatever. But then you get this timezone problem.
On the other hand, having long posts to cover enough content while allowing others to take part means there might be clashing with the content and also forces the next part of the RP to be kind of predetermined by whoever wrote it first, which isn't nice as well.
Also before you want to tell me how stupid what I said was take note I'm not in the RP.
Edit: Might be easier to actually talk about a solution on IRC instead. Dunno if he went to sleep already though

Oh, I hope no one is beginning to misunderstand-- My main issue is moving from one plot point to the next without waiting for other characters to catch up. It's not too big of a deal YET in our RP, but I thought it would be good to get that idea out there, so that later on, when the real action begins, no one is forced to make posts like:
"And after observing the fight sequence, he followed the rest of the group, hoping that he would get his turn soon."
Yeah, kinda blunt, but that's the basic point.
The long/short post argument is valid, and really depends on the poster's own judgment. RPs are quite complex, and there's always a lot of micro-managing going on. D:

You could always get Carillus to set scenario kind of stuff, like party gets separated and so not everyone is involved in killing a certain boss. Then you won't lag behind and can get your own fight or whatever. Or, drag out plot points long enough (this would mean a few days) so everyone gets a share.

For the present moment, you could just alight at the port late and pretend to have been standing outside the teahouse; listening.

OR you could choose not to join the party and go on an NPC-only quest.
...but where's the fun in that?
