"Let's move it th..."
His right eyelid twitched rather violently. Interrupting his own speech.
"What the... Something's not right... Definitely..."
He spoke softly to Yuki and Jasper.
For a moment, he thought that he had heard sounds of vehicles moving around. But he only assumed that those were from the planes headed for where Kamin and the rest were. He closed his eyes and listened closely.
By removing one of your senses... The rest become more sensitive to compensate for it...
Then, he heard - there was indeed, very faint, but surely, the sound of vehicle engines all around them. These engines seemed to be specially designed, as if fit for a stealth guerrilla warfare.
Listen closely Yuki and Jasper... It seems like we're surrounded... Any attempt to burst outta this trap is insane... We cant use strong magic now since we're close to the propella. Meaning that Yuki's anti-gravity cannon would be off the list. Also, Jasper's telekinetic abilities may risk himself... We need a plan, to get out of here without a scratch. There is no point in killing them all, it appears that there are too many of them for us to handle...
He looked at his feet, then at a small alley nearby. He smiled to himself. Then he turned to look at Yuki straight in the face with a slightly raised right eyebrow.
Yuki, in the presence of propella, I'm sure that your general control of gravity would increase. Mind helping us turn up the gravity when we need it?[/i]

Brilliant. Another perfectly viable plan ruined through miscommunication. Forget it, the situation's changed too much for this to work.
Venser dismissed the illusion over Constantine, while making the Valkyries in front of them appear to turn around and open fire on Kamin and himself. Grabbing hold of Kamin's arm, he wove a field of invisibility over the two of them, simultaneously causing the illusionary disguises that they had been wearing to appear as though they'd been gunned down.
Hopefully, they'll think that he's the one responsible for all of this, and not investigate further.
Kamin, we need to regroup with the others immediately - our position here has been compromised. We should be in the clear now, so let's move.
He started moving towards the rest of the group, not letting go of Kamin lest his shroud lose its effect over her.
Ms. Mikoto, please do anything you can to attract the attention of the planes that have just arrived. We will attempt to assist you in destroying them.
Yuki, Kuroi - find a way to cut power to the base as quickly as possible. We can only meet up with you once the these towers are deactivated.

Tsubasa hoped it was a silent consensus that they would work towards creating a storm; one that was large enough for them to be considered a threat on a much more extensive scale.
"Πνεύματα του αέρα! Στρέβλωση!"
Large twisters started to form, whipping up chain reactions from the wind.
There should be enough static and gales to conduct a storm violent enough to swallow them now.

Jasper gasped as his head was filled with images of soldiers and vehicles coming towards them. Traps that were laid out in the alleys suddenly became clear.
Surely, the propella wont affect me that much from here!
Jasper tried his best to keep his speech clear, "Enemies..... Dont go to the main street... The alleys are booby-trapped...... Soldiers in alleys......"
I cant think straight! Help!
On the verge of collapsing, Jasper gasped and panted as he unstrapped the lightning arc from his back. Setting the gun to one of its highest settings, he pointed it at the nearby alley where a couple of traps were and pulled the trigger.
ZZZZZAP!
A gigantic arc of electricity appeared between the wall of the alley and the gun, creating a temporary electromagnetic field that filled the alley. Electricity shot out from the main arc, targeting the wiring in the traps, and immediately causing the traps to blow.
BOOM!
The alley disappeared in the resulting explosion and smoke that billowed out. Hopefully, some of the soldiers had been taken out.
(OOC: I'll need to know if they have been caught in the explosion/lightning blast)
Jasper fought the unconciousness that threatened to take him, and gasped again as the images disappeared.
I hope that wont happen again. It really hurts my concentration
Slightly limping, Jasper turned around to face Yuki and Kuroi.
"What now?"

Private Rolan Mckinsvy, Sector 27
The infrared sensor had revealed the three hostiles approaching their position. All had their fingers on their triggers and ready to intercept the enemy. Through the infrared, they could see one of the characters seeming to have a massive headache, who then also pulled out a handgun.
The wall exploded, and all hell broke lose.
The bastard had somehow been able to detect our traps and detonate them!
"Shit! Orlins, don't die on me!" He yelled as his comrade lay in front of him, bleeding profusely through a wound in his stomach. Several others were injured, but they were mostly intact.
As Orlin's lifesigns faded, Rolan faced the hole in the wall and readied his shotgun.
Corporal Porville Freeman, Sector 25[/b]
He was in the opposite sector from Rolan, but he could just see out of the corner of the building window, the three hostiles who apparently seemed to be deliberating some sort of plan.
Judging from the prowess one of them had exhibited in detecting their traps, he could only come to one conclusion: a magic user.
"Command, this is Patrol Squad Beta, we currently have visual of hostiles, but they seem to be users of magic, please advise."
[Roger that, Beta, you are advised to take them out as quickly as possible. Do not let them use the full extent of their magic. Command out.]
Turning to his squad, he ordered, "You there, ready the rocket launcher, the rest of you, split up and move down to the street, but keep in the shadows! Do not let the enemy know you are there! Once the rocket launcher is ready, I will give the signal and you will all fire at once upon the hostiles. Have I made myself clear?"
Silent gestures of confirmation greeted him as the troopers moved into position.
"Counter Insurgency Force, this is Corporal Porville, leader of Patrol Squad Beta. The enemy are magic users, I repeat, magic users. We will try to force them towards you. Beta out."
With that, he headed down to join the group.
Master Sergeant Neville Friedman, Sector 48
"Affirmative, Beta."
Giving the 'phalanx' formation signal, the armored vehicles formed into a wedge, with him being the spearhead.
Squads Beta and Omega would attempt to force the enemy through the narrow alleys towards them, where they would then be pulverized by his intense flamethrower and supporting tanks.
Those on foot seized vantage points in buildings overlooking the area, and lighter wheeled vehicles patrolled other points of exit around the trap.
Lance Corporal Yttaw Yttrum, Sector 25
Being the stockiest and strongest in the squad, Yttaw was tasked with the G5 RPG Launcher, though with a limited capacity of 2 rockets per reload, it was highly effective and although featured a relatively small explosive radius, any personnel caught in it would easily be turned into mush.
Inserting the rockets and arming the weapon, he leaned out of the building, converted it to mortar mode, found a lockon on Kuroi, and fired a round.
Seconds later, the other part of the squad at ground level came charging out, guns blazing, right at the trio of hostiles.
[[OoC: The G5 RPG Launcher is a rather advanced weapon that could be turned into an accurate mortar if needed. In mortar mode, the user would use the scope and target an enemy, resulting in a lockon moments later. Once fired the rocket accelerates upwards a hundred metres before streaking down right towards it's target. In normal mode, it features an ordinary firing mode and lazer guided mode.]]

"Shit!"
Jasper watched in horror as a rocket lifted off from a building nearby. A flash of light it was when it was fired. However, the flash revealed the soldier's position for all to see.
Moving away from Kuroi and Yuki, Jasper hoped to high heaven that they would escape this nightmare.
But, that RPG Launcher still has to be taken care of.
"Watch out!" Jasper muttered to no one in particular, as he flipped up the setting one notch, and aimed it at the general direction of that soldier. Then, almost reluctantly, Jasper unleashed an even stronger bolt of lightning that arced towards the nearest metallic object there: The G5 RPG Launcher.

Holy shikes!!!
Jasper who was shrouded by his mental torment has did something horrible to their situation. Or so he felt. Even though he injected some chaos into the blend, chaos, was definitely not how Kuroi Tsuki had wanted to settle this.
"What now?" Jasper asked, turning around Yuki and himself. But even before he could open his mouth. A bright flash came from a window from a building just adjacent of them.
"Arrgh..." Kuroi Tsuki groaned a little, being temporarily blinded. But upon hearing the familiar sound of burning propellant. He knew that a rocket had just been launched at them.
He regained his sight just in time to see Jasper open fire with his lightning arc right at the rocket.
"Bloody hell..." He muttered. From his periphery vision, he noticed soldiers from their left were charging straight at them. Guns at the ready.
Being a melee fighter. This was a bad, horrible, terrible, disastrous situation for him. The most common sensible thing to do was to run in the opposite direction.
The triggers were pulled. Bullets were about to rain upon them - a horizontal rain. Besides that, a rocket above them. Even if it were to be intercepted successfully, it would not be a wise choice to get near the explosion...
Oh my gosh... What now? Think!!! Think!!! If only the moon were here... Darn it...
"YUKI!!! TURN UP THE GRAVITY NOW!!! Or just do something!!!"
He grabbed Yuki by his left forearm and...
"Amongst this mess, We shall not be trashed. An escape route we will need, For stray dogs we shall not feed!"
A Light Path appeared in front of him. Stretching out diagonally upwards ahead of them, into the opposite direction of where the soldiers were coming from. He had no time to consider anything else. At the very least, no one should get hurt now.
"Jasper, follow me quick!" He said aloud in a rather firm, commanding voice. With that, he pulled Yuki onto the Light Path and he ran along it. Spending every bit of his mana, just to get away from this place for now.
He gritted his teeth.
My greatest apologies Venser! But we're somewhat caught up in a huge mess... We'll keep trying our best. So hold on until then!

"Oh, bloody hell, stop overreacting. There's a reason why the three of us were chosen for this particular fight, and I intend to finish it." Yuki growled at Kuroi as he pulled himself free from the Light Path with a jump, pulling out his nanobot sphere.
"I may have killed my entire magic supply getting to this place, but I'm far from defenceless even when dry. Let me how this is done: With guts!" Planting the point defence nanobots in front of him, Yuki dashed straight at the enemy squad, barrelling towards them with the power of his superior physique. He was stronger and faster than all of them, he had better weapons than them, and his will to win was greater than them.
"You're trying to pin us down, aren't you? Trying to force us into a trap? But I'm better than that. I can take you, and I can beat you." He drew his WaveForce katana, cutting down enemies with every arc, the perfect cutting power of the weapon leaving them in two without any real resistance.
"Jasper! Kuroi! The two of you take out the power source! I'll hold them off here!"

Kamin allowed herself to be pulled over by Venser, unsure of what to do in the situation.
So we suddenly abandon the attack on the transformer?
Venser was gripping her tightly - not tight enough to hurt, but tight enough to remind her that he was there.
[So, Venser. What do we do now?]

33rd Knight - Misaka Mikoto
Storm clouds...?
Mikoto watched as it suddenly started to rain. The individual drops pelted down on her, drenching her as she stood where the missile carcasses lay, dismantled on the ground.
Yuriko floated over, a invisible barrier of psychic energy keeping her completely dry.
"What nice weather we're having today, eh? First missiles, now rain. Couldn't be better."
"Yeah." Mikoto kept looking at the sky.
It didn't feel quite right. Something about the storm clouds felt almost... magical.
"I wonder..."
From where she was, she could see the small crew that were gathered somewhere near an old abandoned brick building. Sierra stood there, her mouth moving in a song that she could not hear.
Mikoto smiled.
"I think the weather's only going to get worse."
She sat down on a nearby bench, and closed her eyes. Her hair started to float.
The static charge built up under her feet, spreading through the ground even as she used the air to conduct energy through to the clouds.
Once she reached the clouds, the icy mist extended the reach of her lightning.
"Yuriko, I need a psychic uplink ASAP."
Yuriko looked at her in surprise, but complied. Mikoto felt her consciousness expand as Yuriko's joined hers.
"I'm going to need your help. I can take out those enemies within the base from here, but I need your psychic power to pinpoint the coordinates."
"Sure." Yuriko's words echoed in her mind.
In an instant, Mikoto's vision flooded into an overview map of the entire area. Bright specks appeared all over it, concentrated within the base. Three could be seen just outside chasing after a dark black dot - Constantine.
"Time for a shocking awakening."
The clouds crackled with electricity, then hundreds of bolts rained down from the heavens. They struck within the base and outside, aimed at soldiers and vehicles and the eleven airplanes that posed the greatest threat.
The legendary attack that was the hallmark of Zeus - Vengeful Lightning.
World Without Boundaries Elite Ops Team
The green dot continued to accelerate away. Cipher, Mobius One and Gryphus One continued to accelerate in on the green dot, readying another set of missiles when a literal bolt out of the blue struck down before them.
Within miliseconds, the three reacted, breaking formation and initiating evasive action.
Gryphus One took a lightning bolt to his left wingtip, and watched as his left wing tore itself away from the fuselage.
[Control, Charlie-Delta-Zero-One Oh Three sustained heavy damage. Repeat, heavy damage. Initiating emergency landing.]
[Roger, Charlie-Delta-Zero-One Oh Three. Emergency crews are standing by.]
The plane turned, wobbling slightly in the air as the pilot struggled to control the twitchy F35 with just one wing.
Cipher and Mobius One continued to evade, their ailerons flashing in the air as they flew through the storm, sights still trained on Constantine. Once again, both released a missile, homing in at three thousand kilometres per hour on Constantine.

Even though Yuki seemed really irritated and indifferent about Kuroi Tsuki's efforts, he was still awed by Yuki's courage. But on second thoughts. He had the nanobots with him. Kuroi Tsuki gave a mental sigh to himself.
"Gotcha!" He turned back to reply Yuki, and face the front to see in front of him, a huge group of armoured vehicles, with all their main cannons pointing at him.
"Oh fudge..."
Instinctively, he jumped off his Light Path and did an air front somersault with a spin, with his hands reaching into his coat. When his head was pointing to the ground, he faced all the armoured vehicles due to his spin, and his hands flicked out.
6 daggers were flying right into the barrel of the 6 nearest armoured vehicles' weapons, including the one which looked slightly different from the rest.
A commanding unit? Hmm...
As he completed his spin and his body was in an upright position again, he held the handle of his WaveForce Katana tightly, and landed on his Light Patch once again. Ready to jump off it and launch another attack.
The WaveForce Katana shuddered in excitement in his tight grip...

Jasper felt the rain pelt his back.
"Ahhh a cooling reprieve in such a hot situation."
Distant thunder sounds sounded in the distance.
"Kuroi, move yourself. We're going to have to end the supply of their aircraft, along with their power source. I suppose you would want to take the shortcut. I'll stop any shots at us with my nanobots."
Without waiting for a reply, Jasper grabbed Kuroi's arm and dashed forward on the path Kuroi had made.
"Point Defense nanobots UP!"
Shots fired pounded harmlessly on the shield as they dashed towards the propella pool, portal and power source.

Awww mannn!!!
Even before he could engage in any real heated battle, he was dragged on by Jasper.
But oh well... The main mission... Righto... Off we go then...
He couldn't even get the chance to see what happened to the 6 armoured vehicles. With the nanobots all around, he could only see what's ahead and he sprinted alongside Jasper.

We should be quite close by now...
Having dashed off suddenly, Jasper and Kuroi left the soldiers and battalions to Yuki.
I dont think those soldiers can catch up with us
A distant 200m tower loomed ominously directly in front of the pair.
"So, do you have any plans for causing demolitions-like damage to our target buildings?"

"Missiles locked on you, coming in at three thousand kilometres per hour! Taking defensive measures!"
"Defen--"
A sphere of nanobots encased Constantine.
"Right. I almost forgot they were there."
The missiles had a jarring impact, tossing Constantine about 50 metres into the air. He slammed down with a thud, his fall thankfully broken by the nanobots.
"That's going to leave a mark, maybe a hairline fracture. But enough about that. Ai, give me a positive charge on six rods. Let's see these guys dodge a railgun."
The chakram on Constantine's back broke into three segments, each reforming itself as a ring in front of Constantine's right arm. He took aim, lining up the planes in his sights. With the storm going on like that, if even one shot hit, the plane would be struck by lightning instantly. The rings contracted to about a tenth of their original size as the rods passed through them, with three shots flying at twice the speed of sound at each plane.

Tsubasa continued to channel the twisters with erratic wind speeds in hopes of disrupting wind direction readings. Increased air resistance meant not only slower movement for them but also, more static. Sol's forceful mana transfer was disrupting her magic circuit; slowly corrupting it.
"Let's get this over with if not you'll need more than just remuneration."
Tsubasa increased the flares of winds, sending most of the storm's damage and debris to towards the planes.

Corporal Porville Freeman, Sector 26
"Shit," Porville muttered under his breath. His entire squad was decimated, save him, who had just managed to dodge into an alley while that immensely powerful fighter had pulled off from the original trio and engaged them in melee combat.
Yttaw was dead, fried by the lightning discharge from one of the other characters, and the rest of his squad lay in pieces.
Trying to control his breath so as not to attract the hostile's attention, Porville moved off in the opposite direction.
"Omega, this is Porville, I am moving into your position, do not open fire, I repeat, do not open fire. Squad Beta is no more, I am the only one alive. Porville out."
"Master Sergeant, this is Corporal Freeman, two of the enemy have escaped while one has stayed behind and destroyed my squad. Requesting assisstance in defeating the lone hostile. Porville out."
Joining up with Omega Squad, Porville wept a little for his fallen comrades.
Master Sergeant Neville Friedman, Sector 48
"That bloody bastard jammed our turrets!" Yelled a tank commander of one of the T-80 tanks.
"Well then get that damn tank back to the hanger for repairs!" Roared Neville.
Neville clicked the Fire button. Cool blue flames erupted from his tank barrel, instantly melting the dagger within into molten metal. His barrel cleared, he spoke into his radio.
"No shit the other two escaped, Corporal, that's why my guns aren't working right now. I will move in with some hummvees to engage your bogey while the rest move to catch up with the other two. Friedman out."
His fuel tanks were full, that gave him an unique opportunity.
"Heh, let's try this one out, boys. Hummvees, with me!"
Flanked by hummvees, he jammed the fire button, a firewall of blue-red flames appeared infront of him, hiding him and the hummvees from view.
Meanwhile, the hummvees fired into the flames, creating what was essentially a walking firewall with superheated bullets continually being sprayed out on the other end, moving toward's Yuki's position.
Second Sergeant Eelyn Mernivre, Sector 27
"Affirmative, Porville, come on in."
She watched as the lone survivor of the massacre limped into the building.
Turning to face her squad, she announced, "Alright, this guy we're going up against is really armed, and really dangerous, but the Master Sergeant's got us covered, I want half of you to lay some Bouncing Betties in all escape routes, while the rest hole up in buildings and take potshots at him while he's busy dancing with the flames. Move out!"
Moving silently, soldiers worked in pairs as they setup and armed Bouncing Betty jumping landmines in all possible escape routes from the Master Sergeant's inferno, and two G5 RPG Launchers trained upon Yuki from the adjacent buildings, but nobody fired a shot, yet.
"Master Sergeant, be advised, we have set landmines in the street, near Sector 27, do not engage beyond that point. Omega out."
First Lieutenant Ian Ambrose, Neumann Base Command Hub
Hostiles approaching...
He picked up another mike.
"Alan, get some birds up in the air and take out those two bogeys will ya? Command out."
He leaned back in his chair. He was running out of options, the weather was especially rainy, making aiming difficult, and aircraft could not fly too high, unless they wanted to risk getting hit by lightning.
"Oh, and don't fly too high, alright? Weather's been going crazy lately."
First Warrant Officer Alan McDallen, Airbase 3
"Righto, Ian. Alan out."
Ian was right indeed, torrential rain smacked mercilessly on the hanger roof, making a deafening noise that made hearing difficult. Many aircraft were in the hanger, unable to take off due to the bad weather.
But helicopters could.
Gathering his squadron, he commenced his short preflight briefing.
"Right. Guys, and girls, we're gonna take into the air. This rain is probably some magical thingummywut from onna those magical enemies out there, but it'll cover our approach too. Our mission is to eliminate these two bogeys currently in Sector 14. That is all."
Grabbing his gear, he climbed into the cockpit of his Mil Mi-42, powered it up, and took into the rainy skies with 6 other similar helicopters, each armed with 2 XM61 Vulcan Cannons, cluster missile pods, chin mounted autocannons, and not to mention a single cluster bomb latched onto the helicopter's belly.
The 7 helicopters moved off towards Kuroi and Jasper's position. Keeping low, blades whirring furiously, and navigating the area with ease. This was, after all, home.
The rain masked their approach. Several lightning bolts struck dangerously close, but nobody had been hit.
"The moment we establish visual, open fire with the missiles, understand? Oh, and get a lock first, they can move pretty fast, apparently."
"Roger." "Affirmative." "You gotcha!" A myriad of voices echoed confirmation.

The rain felt wonderful against her skin. She felt as if she were in the sea again. Almost. The Undine's skin shimmered slightly as each drop of water hit.
I'm flying... This is happiness. Though she knew that she was in no position to be happy when everyone else was in danger.
Sierra. She felt, rather than heard, the spirits calling her. Sierra responded by twisting the song that she was still singing. The clouds twisted oddly in response, and suddenly, there was a circle of clear sky.
Right above the helicopter trying to "hide."
Silly. This is my magic you are trying to hide in.
Silly. The spirits repeated, giggling, apparently finding something very funny about the situation.

"So, do you have any plans for causing demolitions-like damage to our target buildings?" Jasper asked.
Hmm... Demolitions...
"Nothing in mind as of now... Lets just get there quick first... But I suppose this WaveForce Katana would be of quite some use..."
Kuroi Tsuki replied as he noticed the sky steadily got darker and darker. The sound of the wind and rain was rather deafening too.
"Take a jump now!" He said. The Light Path extended its last meter as Kuroi Tsuki jumped off the edge. He could feel his magical circuit within him die out temporarily. He didn't have a drop of mana left.
Just as he landed gently and looked up, he saw in a distance, a part of the storm clouds were moving oddly. Within seconds, they somehow revealed a blue sky behind it, very much like looking at a black piece of paper with a hole, revealing a blue one behind it. And on this "blue piece of paper", he saw 7 helicopters headed for him and Jasper.
Wow... Impressive magic the rest are wielding... Though I can't tell who exactly did that...
This warning came in perfect timing, with his mana gone, Jasper and himself can only travel by feet on land. With no one hot on their tails, it would be a very good game of hide-and-seek to be played, an unfair advantage for Jasper and himself. In addition, his coat and hair are of black in colour, allowing him to blend even greater into the shadows.
Then he saw... The propella pool is just there... All they needed to do was to get there first, without the heli-s noticing them.
The heli-s would probably try to get out of the "light"... So that they can go into hiding again... To get out of it. They would have to look at it and fly away from it. When they are looking up... How are they gonna notice us below?
Kuroi Tsuki smiled to himself.
To whoever who is creating the light-holes in the sky: thanks a million! Keep making more of them randomly nearby the heli-s. Keep them busy avoiding them. Jasper and I are nearly there![/i]
"Come on Jasper!" He whispered.
He moved silently yet briskly from shadow to shadow, steadily getting closer and closer to the propella pool, and the pipes branching out from it, providing energy to the whole base.
He took in another deep breath.

Walking through the wind and storm, still leading Kamin along, Venser made his way back to where the others had been waiting. Once he was in their midst, he dropped the shroud of invisibility that had concealed their movement, and released his hold on Kamin.
"Greetings, once again. I see you've all taken the instruction to whip up a storm to heart. It's going rather well, I must say, though whether it serves to attract that fleet of planes to our position remains to be seen.
The rain makes a very appropriate aftertouch indeed. Let's just hope it isn't a case of preemptive pathetic fallacy. Kamin, if you were wondering about what our next course of action was going to be, I regret to inform you that this is basically it. We cannot make any further advances into the base until-"
He paused mid-sentence, overcome by the sudden realization of something on the edge of his consciousness.
That rain...
Manifested through Sierra's powers, the rain falling over the entire base was inherently magical in nature - and with his sigil on her, he could use it as a conduit for his own presence.
It rains on the guilty and the innocent alike. The soldiers lying in ambush - Kuroi - Yuki - Jasper -
Every droplet of water that falls from above is as an extension of myself, right beside them. Their every thought sings in my mind.
I see their fighting plans. I see their people in motion. I see their determination, their anger, their confidence, their brief grief.
I see our victory.
With his eyes closed to the storm around him, he looked up - and beyond - into the scene unfolding within the base.
Flying machines poised like birds of prey, closing in on Kuroi and Jasper.
A whispered charm from him, and the raindrops falling on the machines' heads (so to speak) exuded a call to the insidious grasp of sleep, lulling everyone within them into a stream of unconsciounsness.
Waves of flame and metal speeding towards Yuki, doubtlessly intended to eliminate him completely.
One quickened incantation later, a wall of shimmering blue runes materialized between imminent fiery death and Yuki, sending crosshairs aimed directly forward and at it to veer wildly off course.

RADM William C. Reiss, Head of Elite Ops, Neumann Base
The rain fell on the soldier's heads, calling out to them to enter the realm of unconsciousness.
It did not work. The soldiers were still very much awake, their magical resistance nullifying the effect of the rain on themselves.
What Venser could see was only the thoughts of his fellow teammates and the new recruits - nothing to scream home about.
[Alpha-Alpha-Zero-One, Squadron Beta-Alpha and Beta-Beta, split and engage the enemies in Sector 14 and Sector 36, respectively. Control, over and out.]
[Affirmative, Control.]
Rear Admiral William C. Reiss smirked slightly. These magic users were still trying to use underhanded means to wrest control of his army.
This was why he had taken his soldiers from the lower Universes - the further they were from 1809, the higher their magic resistance was. Trying to get through to so many at once with underhanded tactics would require a phenomenal amount of power to break the natural magic barriers.
It was their victory this time.
29th Knight Squadron - Beta-Beta and Beta-Charlie
The eight planes split again - the P-38, P-52, Spitfire and BF-109 in one team, and the DH-98, the J7W, the F/A-18 and the F/A-22 in another.
The first was Beta-Alpha, and the second Beta-Beta.
The lightning had virtually no effect on their movement. The planes twitched slightly, exhibiting the same time-warping bullet-dodging ability that Marisa had exhibited just moments before. Grazing.
Beta-Alpha homed in on the two assailants, throwing fire as they moved along.
[J7W, smart bomb deployed.]
The plane swooped. Instantly, the leading edge of the plane glowed, charging a vast quantity of plasma as it sped itself to supersonic speed. The pilot pulled the airbrake, and simultaneously released the plasma - a glowing blade of fire in the shape of the plane itself.
The extremely devastating, small-AoE Samurai's Edge, a powerful attack designed for cutting through superstructures like aircraft carriers, was now edging itself down at two people.
Squadron Beta-Beta pulled away, flying through the storm and homing in on the source of the magic, a radar swathe that led to a single position in Sector 36.
World Without Boundaries Elite Ops Team
Cipher saw the railgun, literally, three miles away.
At twice the speed of sound, he would have thirty milliseconds to dodge the shot.
More than enough. The two planes dodged, the railgun shots dissipating harmlessly against another bolt of lightning that struck down behind them.
Since missiles don't work, we'll go in guns a-blazing, then.
The two planes swooped lower, and popped open their cannon pods. Rounds poured down upon Constantine at two thousand rounds per minute, .50 caliber armor-piercing shells carving a swathe out of the ground.

They are...unaffected. Resistant to magic? Or did something else interfere with my spell? Either way, it seems I cannot affect them directly. What a letdown, but perhaps it was to be expected, or I might have been able to stop this conflict immediately.
Surprised? People like those do exist, though you might have never heard of them before. They wouldn't even be recorded in the texts you've studied, considering that their resistance to magic prohibits in-depth study of them.
I see. Still, this only precludes one possible avenue of attack. If affecting the soldiers is currently out of my means, I will have to directly assist the unfortunate few who are inside... assuming, of course, that that will be enough to keep them alive.
I need a drink.
He withdrew the bottle of alcohol that he'd received earlier, and took a mouthful, letting it warm him from the inside.
It was probably a wise choice to come prepared. I foresee a great deal of bullshit in the near future.
Has there ever been a circumstance where that wasn't the case?
The answer to that depresses me.
