The Propella in the area was suddenly disturbed by a probe of foreign magic.
Technological means of harnessing its powerful dimension-warping capabilities were commonplace... but magic had never been used before.
The land shook. A distinct shudder and the groaning of shifting land could be audibly heard throughout the small land that was Nasul City.
The sheer magical potential of the combined power of several square kilometre's worth of Propella actively tried to quash the foreign particle that had attempted to make direct contact with it.
The result was a sudden expanding anti-matter field that instantly nullified any form of magical power or Propella-derived energy. It spread out over the vast area of Nasul City, then dissipated.
The power plants of Neumann Base suddenly sputtered to a stop. The portal stopped working. The shield generator's lasers cut off. The shields that surrounded the headquarters, the power plants and the portal disappeared.
The firewall dissipated. All normal weaponry still functioned, but with an artificial intelligence that had no power, the firewall was useless.
A direct barrel of concentrated magic came straight back at Venser, washing him thoroughly with enough energy to power the entire earth for five minutes.
And lastly, Dragnea slowly but surely started to fall out of the sky.
In the Roundtable, almost everything powered by energy ran on Propella.
It was a blessing... but it was also a curse.
[[All magical abilities temporarily nullified. All power temporarily nullified. Magic cannot be used until power comes on. Power will not come on until next stated. Physical abilities (telekinesis, flight, marksmanship etc) still work. Normal weapons still work (unless attached to a Propella power grid). A giant 500,000 ton base is now currently in freefall.]]

"Holy shikes!"
Kuroi Tsuki said out loud in delight as all the lasers ahead simply disappeared. However, then came a totally unpleasant feeling that washed over him. He felt the flow of mana in him go "snap", even though there was too little flow to even be used.
"Oh shiii-aat..."
He added a new phrase in as he realised that besides the lasers going poof, he could feel that all the surrounding equipments, buildings, power plants or what not had ceased to function. The little vibrations and hums coming from the power generator had turned into a "hiss" and simply became inaudible. In any case, he just had a really really bad feeling about it. He knew he had to do something. But what must he do?
"Yuki! I'll get this girl to safety first! Erm... I somehow have a bad feeling about this. And you might wanna try to leave this building asap to help the others! The shield generator... Tesla coils and everything seemed to have stopped working..."
He then carried on running down the corridor with the lady in his arms, despite the pitch darkness, he could estimate what was ahead of him by listening to the echos of his footsteps. By sheer luck, he ended up in front of a door which sounded unusually thick. He had somehow made his way to the main emergency "hiding room". Or whatever it was formally called, he couldn't really care.
Putting the lady down in a sitting position leaning against the wall, he said:
"I'm gonna hack this wall down. Your fellow researchers should be in there, when its open, tell them its you and that's when I'll have to leave... Got it?"
He then drew his WaveForce Katana, hoping that it would be able to help him out.
I know you aren't going to like cutting metal... But help me please?
As he slid two fingers along the side of the blade, the Katana seemed to hum slightly. His right leg shifted backwards and his right arm raised higher and higher above his head. His left hand reached for the handle of the Katana, and with both hands holding onto the Katana, he took a deep breath.
"HYAAAAA!!!!"
He took sudden step forward and swung the Katana down diagonally left.

"ENERGY SURGE!"
Constantine's form sputtered out. He felt much, much closer to the ground. Looking down, he discovered he was a little sphere around three centimeters in diameter, and hovering barely ten centimeters off it.
"Great."
"Alert. All energy has been pushed out of the area. To maximise energy efficiency, I have reduced the size of our physical body to allow us to move using natural thermals and solar energy."
"So I'm the size of a rather large bug?"
"Pretty much."
"Today just keeps on getting better. Let's just wait for someone to come out of the base, and hope nobody steps on us."

Technician Vinnie Kelly, Shield Generator Level 2
She helped wipe vomit off Kuroi's face.
"I'm so sorry...", she said awkwardly.
Then the humming they had become so accustomed to suddenly disappeared.
The lazers blocking their path vanished, and more importantly, a greater silence descended over them.
The shield generator was offline.
Kuroi put her down, yelled something unintelligible, then drew his sword.
What... What is he going to do?...
Technician Jen Kelly, Shield Generator Master Control Room
A loud hissing sound was emitted from the generator equipment, then the room was plunged into darkness, only red emergency lights flickered into existence a few moments later.
"The generator is offline! Not even the computers are working!", A fellow technician yelled.
Personnel ran back and forth, checking, double checking consoles that no longer functioned. Then an eerie silence descended over the room.
None of the communications equipment worked, either. They had no choice but to wait, yet again.
Ees Mkkril, Shield Generator Level 1
Mkkril had long trailed the winged figure ahead of him. Sending telepathic messages to his teammates, he ordered them to take out the other targets.
This one was his.
Silent as night, he moved up right behind Kamin, his right scythe up and ready to slice through her back.
Private Roy Nellar, Sector 13
A gust of hot air burst through the Firewall, right at them.
"AAAAAAGH!"
Screams of torment erupted as the superheated air burned at their skin and eyes, temporarily blinding them and incapacitating them.
Then the Firewall was no more.
The wavering from it's intense heat disappeared, exposing a strange waving figure, and yet another female figure.
"Kill them!" The Sergeant yelled.
Machinegun posts further away swiveled to target the new threats. Not long after, foot long nail projectiles sped towards the two figures.
Second Sergeant Eelyn Mernivre, Sector 13
The ground shook. Inside the Elephant, a siren blared as it indicated an uneven footing.
She yelled into the transponder, the semblance of hierarchy taking a backseat.
"Command! What is going on?!"
Nothing. Only static buzzed in her ears.
Popping her head out of the hatch, she noticed some machinegun turrets firing upon... Something.
Dropping down to her seat, she calibrated the Elephant, did all necessary procedures, and fired.
A huge shell sped up into the sky, in a steep arc that would eventually culminate at Tsubasa's position.
Lance Corporal Pontin Jackhammer, Patrol Squad Theta, Sector 17[/b]
He could hear the sound of heavy machineguns firing in the distance, then drowned out by the sound of a gargantuan artillery cannon.
The Sergeant gave the 'hold' signal. Then pointed two fingers in the direction of the noise.
Pontin knew what he was up to. It meant to investigate and eliminate all hostiles.
Pontin called over two squadmates, together, they lugged the HAMR up a couple of stairs and to the third storey of a building overlooking Sector 13.
There, he saw a slight shimmering on the ground, and a female figure. Machinegun turrets had just begun firing upon them.
Working quickly, they setup the HAMR and Pontin worked to acquire a good firing solution.
Specialist Jung Nikolov, Sector 85
The lighting in the Tesla Coil sputtered and went out, then came on the red lights. Emergency power.
However, the Tesla Coil still functioned, albeit less accurately and powerfully.
The usual heavy buzzing was replaced by a gentle humming.
First Lieutenant Ian Ambrose, Neumann Base Command Hub
His console sputtered and died. In addition, the ground shook violently as something happened outside.
Then the lights went out, replaced by red.
The command center was in a state of disarray, personnel ran about, trying to determine the source of the problem, and relaying orders via more traditional means.
Guards ran into the room, setting up a defensive position at the entrance.
He looked at the Lieutenant Colonel. He was fuming, all this technology, rendered useless without power! It was then that he realised really how weak they were.
We seek to dominate Nature, but in the end, no matter how we try, Nature always has the ability to stop us...

"Ai, do you see what I see?"
"Yeah. From down here, it looks like the sky is falling."
"That definitely can't be good. Let's get the hell out of here, before whatever that is comes crashing down on us."
"Maybe if we can find some sort of flying vehicle I can hack into and control, we'd be able to stop the thing, whatever it is."
"Fine. We'll head into the base, grab something that can fly, and get back in the game. We're pretty vulnerable to all kinds of squishing here, though. We need to move fast."

A reaction.
An understatement. At the risk of repeating myself - it's coming.
Yes, I felt it once I tried mapping possible interactions with the spell. No time to rule out adverse reactions now, at any rate - and no need to, from the look of things. Well then, we can only hope that my prediction of victory holds true. This conflict draws to an end, one way or another.
A wave of energy heading for him, a mere moment away.
I've had enough close encounters with the overenergetic kind to know that resisting it isn't exactly the way to go. Let's go for a ride, then.
Why, wherever to?
Who knows? Perhaps we're merrily on our way to nowhere.
You honestly plan on letting it take you? Given your condition, I'd hardly find that desirable.
And with less than a split second left before the wave overtook him, Venser saw what it meant to him.
Of course. How could I forget? What I am - what I've become, ever since I killed him - is hardly something to be trifled with. Certainly not by the likes of this.
Your plan?
Oh, I'm not going to resist. But I'm not going to yield, either. It wants me, that much is obvious. And it's pure power.
I'll show it a master.
He could nearly feel the pulse of it on his form until he deactivated the seals holding the energy within his eye in check, with the last of his waning mana. And then all he could feel was the endless surge of power, suffusing him with -
-ARGH!
What's wrong? What happened?
Backlash, I think. No matter! I have all that I need. Judging by the amount of mana that was released, I'm thinking your hypothesis was correct...it was multiplying in confinement. Possibly to infinity.
That's risky business, you know.
To be sure. But right now...
Touching the wave of energy with his fingertip, he effortlessly absorbed it into the maelstrom of power spreading out from within him.
Nothing - not even this - can stop me. I overcame it with naught but a touch! This much power! And I had it within me all this time! I think I'm beginning to understand why Gestalt did what he-
Listen to yourself! What the hell do you think you're saying?
...Oh. Oh, heavens. What-? Damn it, no! I can't - I can't let this -
Keep yourself together. You knew what you were getting into when you sealed it all into yourself. Endless power - yes, enough to let you do something like this - but insurmountable responsiblity, too.
His form a swirling nova of blinding ætheric energy, Venser felt the sudden shuddering impact within himself that could only mean one thing - instability -
I'm...I'm falling apart. I can't control all of this. This has to stop. Please... take it away.
Oh, well, I was clearly planning on letting you keep it up and destroy yourself and everything else, but since you asked so nicely...
The seals began to take effect again, bringing the unleashed energy back into Venser's eye, safely contained.
Wait! The others - they're bound to be in trouble now - I need to help them!
What? No! Don't try to cast anything now -
But he'd already latched on to the remnants of the energy, still swirling in the air around them, in an attempt to send everyone he knew - everyone he wanted to save - back to safety.
The mana in the air began to shift and warp ominously, in a manner very unlike any teleportation spell, consuming his fading outline.
Fool! Do you have any idea what you've done?
No...no, perhaps not. But you see, I needed to get them out of here... this is my doing. My responsibility. Can't let them get...
Well you can take solace in the fact that THIS is your doing too, Captain Conscience. Looks like you're going on that ride you wanted.
He was gone.
(OOC: The spell doesn't work as intended, nobody else is affected by it.)

"Somehow, we became a really good distraction; far better than we ever did anticipate or wanted."
Which means that we're in a situation we do not want, simply put.
Tsubasa almost couldn't do anything. No magic meant no shielding, no attacking. The only option left was to run.
I suppose our priority is to get as far as possible away from here.
Tsubasa dived into Sierra, grabbed hold of her, and lunged skyward. She had taken a few nail projectiles along the way, but luckily none hit her wings. Her movements were jerky as she trembled - even the air seemed foreign now.

"Move. MOVE!"
Being in a zone where hectic troops were running about wasn't a very good thing for a 3-centimeter-tall guy. Once or twice, Constantine nearly got himself stepped on. However, there was an advantage to being around heat energy from guns. He could absorb it, and move faster.
Then there was a loud explosion, followed by the sound of a shell slamming right next to where Tsubasa had been earlier.
"Ai, track that shell. I want to know where it came from."
"Located. Source is some sort of tank."
"Perhaps we can hitch a ride on that thing."
Constantine began to move towards the center of Sector 13.

Neumann Base, Shield Generator, In Darkness, Feeling Way Around with Fingers Kamin felt the shockwave through the air - and at the same time, something within her sputtered and died.
My magic... doesn't work anymore.
It was a weird, awkward feeling - like she wasn't herself anymore. She was... powerless.
It was hazy inside the generator, and very very dark. Now, without even the light from the lasers around the place, she had nothing but her ears to rely on.
She spread her wings slightly, and flapped them down - hard.
The gust of wind formed a gale around her, plowing away the smoke that had collected.
At least now I can breathe easier.
She continued forward, feeling her way.
"Yuki! Kuroi! Jasper! Are you guys there?!"

Ees Mkkril, Shield Generator Level 1
He was about to sink his scythe deep into her back when Kamin flapped her wings.
The winds buffeted Mkkril around, straining to maintain footing, he planted himself flat on the wall.
Waiting until Kamin had stopped and continued moving forward, Mkkril moved behind her again, raising both scythes for a powerful Evisceration move.
Technician Vinnie Kelly, Shield Generator Level 3
Vinnie watched as Kuroi tore at the ultradense door with his sword.
I sure hope he gets through, I have a bad feeling...
There was a sharp pain in her neck, followed by her view shifting abruptly.
She looked up at a headless body.
Sure looks... Like... Mine...
Then all went black.
Ees Jkkril, Shield Generator Level 3
Jkkril had been trailing the pair all the while.
He had been told to eliminate everybody who was not inside the Master Control Room, and so he did.
He watched as Kuroi put Vinnie down and set to work on the door.
You'll be firssssst... Preettyyss...
He set his scythe gently before her, such that nobody would notice, then in one swift motion, decapitated her.
The headless body slumped to the floor, the stump of the neck still spewing blood.
Right after that, he flipped up to the ceiling, a paper thin creature, invisible in the darkness.
His gaze was fixed upon Kuroi.
Ees Ykkril, Shield Generator Level 2[/b]
Ykkril was now perched on a broken piece of the wall, several meters behind Yuki.
He noticed that his target was more armored than those his teammates were handling, though it made little difference.
Thissss one is heavily injuredssss... I will take advantaaaage of hissss injuryyssss.
He crept up behind Yuki, ready to jam his scythe up Yuki's right chest area.
Technician Jen Kelly, Shield Generator Master Control Room[/b]
The telepathic connection snapped.
She could feel her sister's soul depart the world, as a void grew larger within her.
Those bastards killed Vinnie... I'll kill them!
"They're coming in through the door! Quick! Guards! Setup a defensive perimeter!"
Bewildered and determined personnel got to work, using furniture and other things in the room to create a makeshift barricade. Guards hid behind it, their rifles aimed squarely at the door.
Jen took her place beside them, her pistol in her hand, her heart cold as steel, no longer afraid.
A fire burned in her eyes.

"HYAAA!!!"
Kuroi Tsuki kept making deep cuts into the door, until he heard a dull thud behind him. It sounded very much like someone banging his head on the metal walls or ground...
No way... It can't be...
He immediately could tell that it was the work of a very very impressive assassin. Through the corners of his eye, he could make out slightly, the headless, limp body of the lady, with blood flowing all over her, silently. She had died and he didn't even get to know her name!
Fear and rage welled up within him. He had never ever seen such a bloody (literally) sight. But his conscious held him back from losing his mind.
This is one stealthy assassin. He is so terribly good that he actually left clues of his murder just BEHIND his next victim. Oh holy shikes.
Just a while ago, he could only hear the soft sound of the lady breathing, before it was interrupted by the "thud" and the breathing stopped. Besides the sound of metal cutting at metal, nothing else was heard.
Remember... All that I have learnt...
He stopped his hacking of the door. It was pointless doing so anyway. But the main purpose, was for him to feel his surroundings. The air was dead still. The silence was murderous. The intent to kill reeked the whole god-damned corridor. He could feel its presence...
He was shocked for a slight moment as he continued to extend his senses around him. He realised, that the assassin... Is not human. He was clearly not its match.
He knew that the only possibilities of where the assassin would be, were where his eyes couldn't easily reach. That would be right behind him, or above him. Judging from the corpse of the innocent lady, he knew that a sharp melee weapon was used. Probably one of a certain length, or the lady too, would have noticed how she had died and made a little more noise. That rules out the possibility of daggers, short swords or any sharp projectiles as the weapon that the assassin was using.
Damn... Why isn't the moon out now!?!
He frowned within himself, almost expecting his doom to come soon. But still, he refused to simply accept it like this. He'll put up the best fight he'll ever have in the face of death. He'll never give up.
Noticing all the metal shards lying all around him, a plan formulated instantly in his mind. Within a split second, he was in a squatting sort of position, with his right leg was outstretched behind him. Using his hands, and the strength of his waist, he spun as he swung his right leg across the ground in two full circles, sweeping up the metal shards and forced the air to move.
Due to the still air all around, the small metal shards easily took flight and flew all over the place, when the air was disturbed. Bouncing against the walls and ceilings, and rebounding against more walls and ceilings. Amongst the metal storm, he reached out and closed the lady's eyes, a sense of guilt for being unable to help the lady stung at his heart...
"Yuki! Kuroi! Jasper! Are you guys there?!"
Kamin's voice echoed throughout the corridor.
His eyes lighted up with hope. He made a mad dash towards it.
"EVERYONEEEE!!!! LET'S GET OUTTA HERE NOOOWWWW!!!"
I'm not gonna die here... No way... No way... NEVERRR!!!!
Tears of the fear of death welled up in his eyes. However, it was tears from the fear of not being able to accomplish the sole reason for his current existence, that flowed out of his eyes...

((OoC: Oh this is perfect. -_- By the way, didn't Venser cast a teleportation spell on everyone?))
For a second, she was gripping water, then she felt nothing. She felt as if she were suffocating as mana left her. Her life energy.
"..Ugh." Sierra managed, before blacking out.
She was already falling as Tsubasa caught her.

"There's no way you're going to fly past those turrets without taking major damage."
Tsubasa felt like she had died a little bit on the inside. She was purely reliant on magic for almost everything, and now, it was as though she was incapacitated.
I can't hover much longer in this state.
The shock of losing her magic was already enough, but coupled with the nail guns the strain was taking it's toil. Tsubasa set her Lightning Arc to maximum output and shakily fired onto the patrols.

"Forget that. We'd never manage to get out of here in time by just running." Yuki mumbled distractedly as he trotted after Kuroi, a prayer for the dead technician running across his mind as he did so. There were many other things running across his mind as well, most of all his sudden disconnection from his abilities. Command of gravity was magic, and he had lost that the moment he ran out of mana, but understanding of gravity, that was innate, as much a part of him as his sight. That was still there, and something was trying to click in his mind.
Gravity. Anti-gravity. Anti-gravity well. The loss of magic. The loss of energy. The loss of power. The loss of anti-gravity. The loss of anti-gravity wells. Dragnea Base was kept aloft by an anti-gravity well. There was no anti-gravity well. Gravity would take over. Dragnea Base was going to fall.
The facts snapped into place, and Yuki broke into a run.
"Shit! Everybody's going to die like this!" He shouted as he fiddled with his microphone. "Dragnea Base, do you read me? I need planes at our location right here, right now! I might be able to fix the anti-gravity well!"
To everyone else, he had this to say: "Everybody! Go as low as possible and stay there! Dragnea Base is going to fall!"

Ees Jkkril, Shield Generator Level 3
Mkkril dodged the shards, twisting and turning, one, however, had hit him with its blunt side, which stung.
Impressssiveee...
Shaking himself to rid the itch, he slunk quickly after Kuroi, sending messages to his teammates as well.
Ees Mkkril, Shield Generator Level 1
[Theyyy aaaaare essscapingg... Finishhhh them fasssst...]
Mkkril received the message from Jkkril.
He could hear sounds of a firefight outside, the situation was deteriorating.
No timeee to wasssste...
He brought both scythes down onto Kamin's back.
Ees Ykkril, Shield Generator Level 2
Ykkril was about to finish Yuki when Yuki moved abruptly, forcing Ykkril to dodge sideways.
Slinking about in the darkness, he saw Yuki start moving off.
Youuu will not esssscape...
Flitting past Jasper, Ykkril tracked Yuki, waiting for another opportunity to arise.
Private Roy Nellar, Sector 13
The winged figure struggled, diving to pick up something before lifting off skyward.
The deafening noise from the artillery shell disoriented them, causing some machinegun posts to aim off, the result being many shots missing Tsubasa.
Getting to his feet, he raised his rifle and fired upon her again, until she pulled out an odd looking device.
Blue-white lightning shot forth, and Roy was no more.
Lance Corporal Pontin Jackhammer, Sector 15
Pontin was ready to fire the HAMR when Tsubasa lifted off.
Shit! Heck, it's near impossible to hit a flying target anyway, so...
"FIRE!"
A round shot forth from the portable cannon, however, as expected, it whizzed just past Tsubasa's head.
"Quickly! Load another round and prepare to fire!"
His squadmate heaved up another round and slotted it into the cannon.
This time I will not miss...
First Warrant Officer Alan McDallen, Sector 22
Alan heard the report of a gargantuan artillery cannon, followed by the impact of it's equally gargantuan shell.
Who the hell uses the Elephant nowadays?
"Must be trouble guys, let's head back."
The assault helicopters turned once again, heading back to Sector 13.

Kuroi Tsuki sprinted as if there was no tomorrow for him to live. His right hand was outstretched behind him, still holding onto the Katana tightly.
Upon approaching the entrance to the stairway down, he jumped off the top of the stairs. As he landed, he broke his fall by bending over as his feet came into contact with the ground, and did a simple forward roll, with the Katana kept close to him for it.
He could see Yuki coming to the stairway too. However, he noticed something else. There was a small glint of light. It was reflected from his Katana, which was the brightest light source around, although it was not like a torch. But he was certain, that that was not a reflection from the wall; He could immediately recognise it as a pointed edge, to be exact, a weapon.
What in the world...?
Tracing the glint, it seemed to come from almost nothing but a line. It was seemingly there, yet not there. It was like an illusion, that just refused to come into focus properly.
Yuki... Yuki's in danger!
His instincts took over him.
Why am I afraid?! Why am I trembling?! I should be strong. I need to protect my friends. I need to protect everyone! I can't let anyone else die! No more deaths!! Absolutely!! For her sake...
His eyes seemed to be set ablaze with love and hate, courage and fear, strength and weakness at the same time.
"Yuki! Get down! KISS the ground!!!"
He yelled as sprung back up onto his feet. He jumped vertically, and stuck his Katana into the ground as he positioned his legs to come into the wall just behind him. He kicked off the wall and lunged up towards Yuki as he pulled the Katana out of the ground, holding it in reverse grip and behind him with his right hand.
It moves rather quickly... And it is very very versatile in its movement... So......
His eyes shifted to the left and then to the right of where it was last seen.
If it knows that I've spotted it, it would probably try to get out of where light would reflect off his blade or whatever that was... And that means... It's not going to be sticking to the sides of the walls, but instead, directly onto the ceiling since that's where the lights won't easily reach...
Having confirmed his theory by glancing to the left and right, he hesitated no more. He swung his left shoulder down slightly, bringing his right shoulder up, and tilting the whole axis of his body. His right arm was now free to slice a big diagonal cut across the length of the ceiling.
"GO - TO - HELL!!!!"
He roared with all his breath as he scarred the ceiling.

Constantine slipped into the Elephant. Instantly, he was blinded somewhat. He could only see out through the scope of the vehicle. Ai, on the other hand, had a clear view through its systems.
"Constantine, if these guys shoot again, they'll be hitting their own. I've been playing with their calibrations. They won't notice it, but if they try to shoot again, they'll find that no matter how they calibrate the gun, the actual shot follows my choosing, not theirs."
"Brilliant work. But how do you plan to escape the giant base falling on us?"
"I guess we'll have to work that out. For now, we have havoc to wreak."

Dragnea Base - Main Control
The Base shuddered to the very base of its foundations, then the entire place went pitch black. It was very quiet.
Head of Operation Precision Lance, Rear Admiral Andy P. Dietz, sat very still in his commander's chair.
What is going on?
A general buzzing slowly grew in the control room. People whispered to each other, wondering what had happened.
RADM Dietz himself was also not privy to the matter - until he realised how quiet it was. Too quiet.
The engines were not running.
Suddenly, the floor groaned, a tremor going through the entire room from the bottom all the way to the radar installation at its pinnacle. There was a sudden feeling of weightlessness.
The engines were not running. There was no electricity. The anti-gravity well was not running.
They. Were. In. Freefall.
The Rear Admiral sprang into action.
"Gospen! Get someone down to the backup generators! Double time! The electric signals to start it up must have shorted out - hand-crank them, get them running no matter what! Astley! Bring me the emergency radio relay! Yes, the battery-operated ones! Now! Goering, get the signal for the mics on the ground! Reestablish contact immediately! Kandesvki, scramble all fighters and planes from the base immediately! Move as much cargo off this thing as possible! Move it! Move it!"
The normally calm Control Centre burst into a flurry of activity, people scrambling for purchase as the base slowly accelerated downwards. At this rate, at this speed, it would take around three minutes to reach the ground.
This essentially left them with just under two and a half minutes to get the anti-gravity system back up and running again.
"Sir, contact has been reestablished!" "Sir, the emergency radio relay!"
Immediately, the radios crackled.
[Dragnea... read... planes at our location right here, right now! I might be able to fix the gravity well!] One of the newcomers - Yuki, was it?
[Sir! Something happened down here! All power seems to have been cut off by a wave of some sort!] Mikoto.
Yes, we can guess as much. Dietz lifted the huge radio to his mouth.
[Dragnea to Yuki. Scrambling planes now. Give me your six-point coordinates, latitude then longitude. We currently can only establish basic radio contact. Check the side of your mic.]
Outside, Dietz could hear the sound of roaring engines.
Kirisame Marisa
She felt a sudden change in weight as the ground dropped away from underneath her.
"Woah!" She grabbed her hat out of the air, and launched off on her broom.
She looked back. The entire place appeared to be moving downwards.
"Eh?"
Was it dropping? Marisa angled her broom down, and sped toward the ground, passing the base that seemed to move faster with each passing second.
Yes, it was dropping. The anti-gravity appeared to have cut out.
Eh, I'd like to do something, but I don't actually have any anti-gravity spells...
She could do nothing but watch helplessly as the base continued to fall.
World Without Boundaries Elite Ops Team
Cipher and Mobius One were still engaging the target when a sudden wave of... something washed over them.
Instantly, the displays crackled and faded.
[Uh, Mobius One. You getting this?]
[Affirmative, Cipher. Appears... something. Connection... break...]
The radio crackled and died. The engines cut out.
Mobius One suddenly regretted having made the decision to switch to Propella as a fuel, for some inconcievable reason.
He reached under his seat, and pulled the lever. The hatch popped, and he felt his body compress as his seat powered him up and out of the cockpit. Nearby, he saw as Cipher did the same with his own Berkut.
The two hollow shells dropped to the ground, nary a scratch on them and not even spewing smoke.
It was a loss of two perfectly good planes. Perfectly good planes that cost near RT$250 million each.
[Well, sacrifices had to be made, and will always have to be made. I really wish I'd stuck to kerosene.]
Yuriko Omega
She watched and listened as Mikoto held the mic to her ear, speaking urgently with the Rear Admiral.
Overhead, the shadow slowly but surely grew larger. If the base hit the ground, the entire mission would be a failure - even if they had destroyed Neumann along the way. Because that had never been the intention.
Would this be my end, then?
She gave a small smile.
"I'll be back in a bit, Mikoto."
With that, she sped away, floating on a cushion of psionic energy. She could hear Mikoto calling out behind her.
I'm sorry. I knew I told you I'd be back alive, but I guess this is my destiny.
Yuriko knew she could do something about the falling base - but that would spell death for her.
As she went just out of range of the Tesla coils that surrounded the base, she planted her feet on the ground, and raised both her hands into the air.
"Hmmrgh!"
Yuriko channeled all her energy into her mind, and concentrated it, using her two hands to focus her attention on the falling base. The psionic field reached out, a lance of mental power, and spread out into a field that covered the entire flat plate that made up its foundation.
Instantly, its sheer weight hit her in the gut.
"Oomph."
Blood spewed out the sides of her mouth, dripping and clotting where red liquid met soil. The base was heavy - Yuriko's ankles broke. Her feet sank almost half a metre into the ground. It was a side effect from attempting to lift so much weight at once - her mind compensated by channeling some of that force back into her body.
But she couldn't stop just yet. No, she could not. If she did, so many peple would die.
I have to redeem myself. Redeem myself from back when I was still crazy. Before I met Mikoto, before I realised I could use my powers for the betterment of mankind.
Yes. In that short timeframe that she had known Mikoto, barely even a day, her entire worldview had changed.
The base started to slow in its descent. Yuriko was buying time. She hoped - really hoped - someone would help her.
[Mikoto - the base - now! Before the rainclouds dissipate - you have to take out the power plants!]
Misaka Mikoto
She could only watch as Yuriko went to take on the base alone. There was, after all, nothing she could do about it - short of killing Yuriko.
I'm... useless...
Powers that were only meant for destruction. Completely useless when it came to aiding her friends. She sank to the ground.
[Mikoto - the base - now! Before the rainclouds dissipate - you have to take out the power plants!]
A sudden voice echoed inside her ear. Yuriko's voice.
Ah... that's right. The mission...
She raised her hand to the air. At that moment, she realised - this wasn't just a mission. It was a mission to save New Technia. Save her friends. Save... everyone.
I'm... on a mission to save.
That realisation gave her strength. Regardless of her employer's true aims, that was what she was doing.
It was what she would do.
Her eyes glowed with steely resolve.
"This... Yuriko, this is for you!"
Her entire body started to harmonise, its individual particles resonating with the sheer amount of electricity Mikoto had coursing through her body. Power. The power to protect.
The sand around her feet melted, burned, and turned to glass.
"I'm going to make sure everyone gets out of this alive!"
Bang. A tremendous thunderclap rang through the air. A bolt of lightning almost seventy metres in diameter shot into the sky.
It travelled along the electrons in the clouds, and came down above the coordinates Yuriko had given to her.
The bolt struck the ground where the power plants were. They erupted into a huge geyser of fire, the Propella working through the system igniting even as they spewed into the air. A massive fireworks show revealed itself above Neumann Base.
The power... was finally down.
The Tesla coils continued to hum with energy, but noticeably weaker than before.

Yuki had heard Kuroi of course, and he was completely aware that whatever had killed the technician was still out there somewhere, but he had long decided that if it was something that could catch him while he was in full sprint without Yuki catching it with his fist first, it was something that he could not possibly fight anyway, and it was better to cut his losses by doing as much as possible before the blade struck. So he continued his run, leaving Kuroi and a trail of blood behind him, fiddling with the controls of his mic as he attempted to figure out his coordinates.
"Good eyes Kuroi!" He shouted to the person behind him, as he forced his way upwards. If a plane was coming, it was going to have to be by the roof. Extraction from the main exit was suicidal with the kind of forces arrayed right outside the doorstep.
"Kamin! Jasper! You two as well! Shoot behind you! There's something trying to hunt us down!" He shouted again, louder this time, knowing full well that nothing came alone in this base.
"Anyway, Dragnea Base, this is Yuki, my coordinates are..." He read off his coordinates as quickly as he could, not wanting to waste any precious seconds at all. If he was going to be a superhero, he was going to have to save everybody. There was nothing that could be done about open warfare, people died in war after all, but something as stupid as a flying military base crashing into a populated area? That was something he would prevent with all his might.

"Done. Coordinates have been screwed up. I planted a little something in their computer. Now let's get out. This thing's useless since we can't hijack it."
Constantine withdrew from the tank.
"Let's see... Is there any airfield or something where we can get a flying vehicle?"

Jasper ran up the stairs to meet Kuroi.
Immediately, he smelled and tasted the iron in the air from the spilt blood.
"Shit. What the hell killed her?"
Then Kuroi roared out a battle cry and sliced the entire area in front of him, aiming at this creature that was facing Kuroi, but showing its side to Jasper.
It looked like something cut out of paper.
Deftly bringing up the SMG he took from a soldier, Jasper aimed carefully and let loose a 3-round burst that went no where close to Kuroi, but aimed directly at the creature Kuroi was trying to hit.

Ees Ykkril, Shield Generator Level 2
Ykkril had been tracking Yuki, when Kuroi appeared out of nowhere and charged straight at him.
Even as Ykkril dodged, Kuroi seemed to be able to read his moves, bringing his sword down upon his midsection even as Jasper fired at his legs.
The two halfs clattered to the floor, as Ykkril's consciousness faded.
In deathhhh... I will liveeee oooonn...
Ees Jkkril, Shield Generator Level 2
As Jkkril slinked at the stairwell leading down, he could feel Ykkril's consciousness fade.
Heee willl returnnn...
He could hear Yuki's heavy footfalls fading into the distance, he then set his gaze on Jasper.
Second Sergeant Eelyn Mernivre, Sector 13
A bolt came out of the blue.
Then a gigantic explosion rocked the sector, tipping the Elephant over in the ensuing shockwave.
Her ears still ringing, Eelyn grabbed an unconscious Porville and dragged him out of the Elephant.
Leaning Porville against the Elephant, Eelyn set off towards the power plant, though already knowing full well what had happened.
First Lieutenant Ian Ambrose, Neumann Base Command Hub
A scout came running in, panting.
He attempted to salute.
"Sirs! The powerplant has been destroyed!"
Crap.
Without a chance to power up the base again, they were quite screwed.
"No point staying here, then."
Came the voice of the Lieutenant Colonel. Ian swiveled his head to look. The Lieutenant Colonel was holding an extremely old but still highly effective rifle, a modified M14.
Turning back to his own console, Ian reached underneath it and withdrew a SRS-900 Battle Rifle, an arguably more powerful weapon than the M14 but was highly unstable when firing.
He had never seen combat for a long time, not ever since his promotion into office.
Other officers gradually caught on, picking up weapons and heading outside with the guards.
Now for a first hand view of the situation...
Lieutenant Colonel Olivier Presche, Sector 13
Olivier had been the first to leave the Command Hub, followed hurriedly by the guards and eventually the rest of the officers.
Chaos reigned outside as a mangled powerplant spewed propella, with emergency teams struggling to keep it under control, an Elephant superheavy artillery had been tipped over, presumably by the explosion, and the entrance to the shield generator had been blown open.
Hundreds of soldiers and gun emplacements were littered liberally around the area, weary soldiers exchanged glances while others kept a lookout.
Turning back to face his group, he ordered.
"Split up, officers. Reinforce the area anyway you can. Dismissed."
He watched as they walked about, unsure of where to go.
"FIND A PLACE AND SETTLE IN WITH THE SOLDIERS! MOVE IT!"
Olivier had not used that voice in decades, ever since his days as a platoon sergeant.
He himself moved towards a collection of 'Nailers' and some riflemen, taking a spot between two astounded riflemen.
All around him, he could feel morale skyrocket. It was in the air, the heartpumping, adrenaline rushing feeling of exhilaration. After all, it wasn't everyday that your commanders joined you in the field.
Alright, let's see what to make of this...
He raised his rifle at Tsubasa, looked into the iron sights, and fired squarely at her head.
First Warrant Officer Alan McDallen, Sector 13
They hovered over the shield generator, observing the wrecked power plant.
"Don't fall asleep, guys."
Alan said half-jokingly, the sight was mesmerizing, for some unknown reason.
"Keep a lookout."
His thumb stroked the firing button, longing to fire once again at those flitting figures.
I'll get you this time.
Technician Jen Kelly, Shield Generator Master Control Room
Whoever was on the other side stopped tearing at the door.
Jen lowered her gun, unsure of what to do. The guards, too, relaxed their posture.
The bloodthirst was still strong in her, she still longed to exact a revenge, but she was powerless in this state.

(OOC: when is the magic coming back >_>)
"You won't be able to sustain yourself if you continue to carry her."
I can't ditch her.
Tsubasa realised she couldn't do much, except return fire blinding while dodging. She couldn't hover much longer either. She had to land.

Kamin felt the muscles in her back suddenly give way. Numbness spread from two rough patches on her back, and the fresh scent of blood filled the air.
Ah.
With concerted energy, she swept her wings around in a counterclockwise motion, buffeting the area in a huge swathe of wind, a gale that would rock even the hardiest of enemies. There, she whipped out her trusted weapon, a relic of her past - a Walther P38, an ancient but hardy little pistol. There was no light whatsoever in the area, so she trusted her instincts and calculations, aiming her pistol at a small spot to her five o' clock position. This was where the turbulence - as she remembered - was the greatest, and where the enemy most likely was.
She fired, seven rounds in all, in a vertical line from ceiling to floor.
HP: 50
